5 Amana and the Original Radar Range
Posted by William Barajas on Oct 20th 2024
High frequency dielectric heating apparatus was patented in 1945 by Raytheon, and a prototype built. The first microwave oven for commercial purposes (ships and hotels) was introduced in 1947 by Raytheon, and named the Radar Range. It stood five and a half feet tall, weighed 750 pounds, and cost $3000." http://www.industrialdesignhistory.com/node/163 My Amana cost 129.00 and is a perfect fit over my stove. I remember my neighbor having an Amana Radarange in 1964. This is my first Amana and I am very happy with it.

Easy to install, vent speed could be better, heats up well… dont like the fact that all the other amana appliances have a blue led light and this microwave has green light for display.
