5 Immensely Useful - Cook Anything Air Fryer
Posted by Bridget Sanders on Dec 6th 2024
bella PRO - SmartCrisp 8-qt. Touchscreen Air Fryer (Model: 90223) The Bella Pro takes another step towards making our conventional and inefficient built-in ovens irrelevant. You won’t complain. With its tight, fully sealed, large-but-reasonable cooking chamber the Bella SmartCrisp drives heated air all around our food resulting in well cooked dishes that have an inviting crisp finish. And this takes less time and uses less energy. Cleanup was easier than ever. Nothing sticks to this ceramic surface. Using the SmartCrisp: I really like a control panel that is so intuitive it requires no searching into the User Guide. The Power Button does just that and should be used at the end of cooking to disconnect the Air Fryer. One push PreSets get you the usual selection of Bake, Roast and typical foods (French Fries etc) and some unusual (fish, bacon) with easy adjustment to the temperature and timing parameters as you learn your machine. Or, simply set a time and temperature and create your own cooking chart. A Start/Stop button initiates the cooking when not using the PreSets or if you want to interrupt cooking. In any event, Bella suggests having a meat thermometer to be sure you have cooked through thicker pieces. PERFORMANCE: PORK CHOPS or chicken breast filets: We have developed some decent techniques with our grill and thick bone-in chops, but with thinner, boneless food like chicken or pork, it’s been hit or miss. We may have found our fool-proof solution. With the bella SmartCrisp, we slightly oiled up our medium size chops. We then used a nice coating of onion and garlic salt followed by Italian herbs. At our manual settings of 400 degrees and 12 minutes we had the very best chops, very moist and quite tender. It was a huge win. With little effort. FRENCH FRIES - super thin: Just cooking regular french fries seemed too easy. It’s why these Air Fryers are bought, right? We bought these thin style which are a bit more challenging. Getting the time and heat just right would make the difference between burned-to-a-crisp and limp. Spoiler: they came out great, but it may have been luck. Using the suggested 10 minute minimum time with 400 degree temperature, and after some confusion about starting the cook, I pulled the fries at the “shake” audio alert, and the fries were already, and perfectly cooked. Yikes, This was at the halfway (ignoring the restart cycle) cooking point! This also highlights one of issues with the SmartCrisp. Using the preset French Fry setting changes how the fryer works. After preheating, the fryer requires you do NOTHING but put the food in the basket and let it cook. However, the countdown timer only reads minutes, with no seconds. So, it looks like nothing is happening for a full minute. You’re tempted to press the start button to be sure. Guilty. Ugh. Now you’ve shut off the cooking and have to start over. Reading the instruction for preset cooking is not very helpful because it seems like you’re being told to press start. Nope. Our second batch was done correctly and revealed just how fast this oven cooks. 400 Degrees and 8 minutes! NOISE LEVEL: The bella SmartCrisp has managed to contain the inevitable blower noise to a very low level, barely above average kitchen activity. I measured 54dB from a few feet away and it was the lower frequency, far less annoying sound. CLEANING after the cook: The design of the basket is so slick, smooth with no seams that cleaning takes seconds. The grid insert is similarly smooth and easy to quickly clean. The SmartCrisp has a remarkably slick ceramic surface which defies anything sticking. Use whatever you want to cleanup. The entire chamber is so large, that it’s easy to use whatever your favorite sponge, towelettes, or cloth is and follow up with a wipe. ANNOYANCES: bella, you really need to add the seconds to your timer. It improves confidence that the fryer has actually initiated the cooking, and that it is still cooking, as well as helping us judge how to prep our companion cooking tasks. Also, a well designed and full featured product like this deserves a more impressive user guide and menu suggestions. RECOMMENDATIONS: The bella Pro SmartCrisp is a very well designed, high capacity Air Fryer that makes preparing meals fun and convenient. We quickly learned to accommodate to the SmartCrisp’s control panel and we get consistent results. It encourages imaginative cooks to explore a different approach to some favorite dishes, and we’ve found ourselves loving the results. Easy to recommend.

5 Goldilocks - Not Too Big, Not Too Small
Posted by Debra Wright on Nov 25th 2024
We needed to replace our analog air fryer that my 70 year old Mom loved but the basket had seen better days. I know it's kind of rare to find one with analog control these days, so our mission was to find one that's as simple as possible and not too big. We decided to go with bella PRO - SmartCrisp 8-qt. Touchscreen Air Fryer in Stainless Steel since it matches our other appliances. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: Goldilocks perfect, not too big and not too small. Perfect for a family of 4. The display is fairly simple. Not too overwhelming. I love how the tray is made with Ceramic Nonstick Coating that’s made without harmful chemicals. It's thin and easy to clean. Honestly, what sold me was when I saw the picture of a whole chicken in there. I haven't tried it yet since I'm too afraid it'll come out too dry, but knowing that I can fit a whole chicken in there is pretty darn cool! Cons: It's the little thing but it drives me nuts that the power button is blinking in sleep mode. I suppose I can unplug it after use but it's not ideal. The rubber bumpers on the tray. So, our old air fryer did not have these and it caught me off guard seeing them. I guess the instructions said to leave them for proper fitting of the tray, but I am not fond of unnecessary elements in high heat in enclosed space of the food for my family. So, upon researching, it's a fairly common feature across other brands. It just caught me off guard since our old one did not have them. Lastly, this is neither good or bad but I found that this air fryer is much more powerful compared to our old one. We had burned our first few foods for leaving them too long although it was the same setting we used with our old one. I was also not sure about having a round tray vs square like our old one but it's so spacious that it doesn't matter at the end of the day. Overall, I'm very pleased with this air fryer and we look forward to fitting in a whole chicken there next time!

5 Big enough for our family and easy to clean
Posted by Michael Carr on Nov 21st 2024
If you haven’t seen air fryers around, then you’ve likely been living under a rock. 8 qt is advertised as being enough to feed a family of 8. I’ve got 2 boys that play league sports and I can say that 8 qts comfortably feeds our family of 4 even with their appetites. The design is nice and simple with a single cylinder design. I feel like the cylindrical shape allows for more “usable” space compared to a rectangle with its sharp corners. The Evergood ceramic coating is free of PFAS, lead, and other harmful chemicals that might be found in other non-stick coatings. What’s also clutch is the fact that the basket and tray are both very easily removable. Another plus is that they’re both dishwasher safe, which definitely helps with convenience. The touchscreen interface may be overkill, but it makes the whole exterior look sleek without any breaks due to physical buttons. Very clear menu options and layouts for various cooking options as well. We love that air fryers allow us to crisp up food without using a bunch of oil, and nowadays, we sometimes forego adding oil completely. The biggest food critics in our home haven’t complained about the food, so it’s a win for us. Nice and spacious basket with easy to clean, easily removable parts.

5 Great Air Fryer. Simple To Use And Clean.
Posted by Nicole Richardson on Nov 15th 2024
What I Liked: It has very simplistic cylindrical design with a handle and a very intuitive touch screen. The touch screen handles all function settings including power on and off and start and stop. Now, its a larger appliance so make sure you have the counter and or cabinet space for it. It has multiple presets with names of foods as well as recomended times and temperatures. Adjusting the presets is easy right on the touch screen, making it a manual setting which I find usually works out the best for me. As with any cooking appliance cooking times and temparatures can vary from one appliance to another so I like to keep a close eye on things when I first use them on my most commonly cooked foods. I went with the bag settings on some chicken bites and potato tots and the results were great. I did need to give the chicken another minute or two to get them as crisp as we like them. As for baking, a few corn muffins as a test of that feature turned out well. This unit will preheat automatically once you hit the start button and it took around 4 minuets to reach 360 degrees. That did not affect the doneness of anything I cooked today and preheat is not a feature I usually use when I have an option. It will display the temperature and time remaining on the cook. A shake reminder to shake will sound as you cook to redistribute and turn the foods that need it. It's EverGood ceramic coated inside virtually elimiates food sticking to it and makes cleanup ever so simple. Bella give you a 2 year warranty, which not many small appliances do these days. The huge 8 quart capacity makes this a very versitile appliance giving you the ability to cook both small and large batches of foods such as fries, nuggets etc and the ability to cook a family size roast, chicken or whole turkey breast. What I did not like: It is not a deal breaker at all but I wish the preheat function could be skipped if not desired. Other than that one small preferance of mine, its really a very nice machine.

5 Great air fryer with easy cleanup
Posted by Meghan Watson on Oct 22nd 2024
I have owned three air fryers now over the years and the Bella Pro SmartCrisp air fryer has been the best so far. Mainly because it has been the easiest to clean up after use. Other air fryers have been a pain to clean up because the fat and grease from cooking fatty foods stick to the surfaces of the air fryer and are difficult to clean, involving lots of soap and elbow grease. However, this Bella Pro features what it calls an EverGood ceramic surface. This surface is nonstick and by nonstick I mean fat and grease really does not stick to it. Fat accumulates as liquid droplets on this surface, not sticky blotches of grease. All I had to was take a paper towel and soak up all the droplets of fat in one pass! The entire basket fits in a standard kitchen sink, so I then just gave it a quick pass with water from the faucet jet sprayer and air dryed it. In terms of cooking, this air fryer was superb. Foods come out consistently crispy with minimal oil usage. The foods also released rapidly from the cooking surface without sticking to them. My prior air fryer was a 7 qt in a horizontal layout that required two hands to carry it. Since my air fryer is in my garage this made it cumbersome to open and close the door while carrying it in and out the house. On the other hand, even though this Bella Pro air fryer is a large 8 qt., the basket can easily be carried in one hand. Another great convenience feature. I really liked the pre-sets for common foods. The French fry preset worked great for cooking a whole bag of frozen fries. I just would shake the basket every 5 minutes and the fries came out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Overall, I highly recommend this air fryer for its convenient cleaning and excellent cooking.
