5 Solid among many competitors
Posted by Charlene Gomez on Nov 27th 2024
This robot vacuum has been a great addition to my cleaning equipment at home. I have used other robot vacuums and know what I like and dislike and this one is definitely one that checks all my boxes. One thing that is a must vs other models I have used is the self emptying capability. An other older I had did not have this function and since having this capability I would not have it any other way. Its a time saver too as the internal bag that fills as it empties seems to be pretty large too, and I havent had to empty it yet since setting up the vacuum a little over a week ago. The set up is quick and easy too, by simply scanning a QR code and pairing to your wifi. One thing that I do wish that this model had is the video manager feature, in other words the capability to see video of where the unit is in your home when its cleaning. Nevertheless, this model is still an awesome add. It does not run very loudly either vs other robot vacuums which was a pleasant surprise. All in all if you are looking for a quality robot vacuum with an easy to use companion app then I would highly recommend this model as it certainly checks all the boxes!

3 Unfinished product design

This is our 5th Robo vacuum in 5 years. for the purposes of this review, I will be comparing this Ecovacs T9+ to laset years RoboRock S7MaxV. - The T9+design is Wonderful and its elegant in a way that makes it fit in any environment. - The build quality is wonderful and sturdy, while making cleaning and replacing the different parts that will go through wear and tear very easy, I would even go to say that an 8 years old can trouble shoot this T9+. - Software controls are OK, a bit busy but you can find anything you need and it has some features that are not available in other high end Robo vacs. like the freshener options and scheduling multiple cleans for the same surface and 3d mapping. unfortunately this is where the ROBO part ends, because it was very disappointing to learn that the T9+ CANNOT vacuum and mop at the same time, it CANNOT work on hard flooring and carperts at the same time. it order to use mopping, you will need to detach the vacuum part from the puck and insert the mopping part. this is anything but autonomous. this means it needs at least daily attention and you will have to swap modular parts if you want it to mop and vacuum daily. this means scheduling is useless for it because you have to be present to swap them. I can't stress how annoying this is for a Robovac that is $799 There is a big price difference between the 2 Robot Vacuums, but to be completely honest, the Superior RoboRock S7MaxV's price is totally justifiable because it is completely autonomous, it requires care once a week only. that is for filling the clean water tank and emptying the dirty water tank. and I do clean it once a month to take care of untangled hair, clean the washable filter, etc. conclusion: the Ecovacs Deebot T9+ is a great concept that is not finished yet. I personally cannot justify paying the retail price for this product as it stands right now.

4 A large leap over my previous robovacs.
Posted by Miranda Hardy on Nov 19th 2024
I've gone through most of the major robovac manufacturers. While I loved Neato's robot shape and performance I needed more and landed on the Ecovacs N8+. Between the self-emptying and the dust mop, I thought most of my needs were met. The Ecovacs mapping app can use quite a bit of work when it comes to separating rooms out but it was livable. Eventually it was time to replace and while the T8, when I got the N8, was out of my price range I decided to go a little further and instead of the N10, I picked up the T9 and I haven't been happier. It's a lot better than my N8 in almost every respect but balance demands Pros and Cons. - It got a 4/5 from me because when I bought it the T20 and X1 existed but were a little more expensive than I wanted to spend and they were objectively better - AIVI does a better job detecting objects on a solid floor vs carpet. It ate a 2x1 LEGO brick on medium pile carpet, but consistently drove around an M&M on the tiled dining room floor. If everything is picked up and I want to make sure it gets *everything* then I turn off object detection. - The rubber flap at the front of the rotating brush can actually prevent small and lightweight object, popcorn, from being picked up. But the suction is incredible. - The air freshener stopped being noticeable after a couple of weeks. - The vibrating mopping pad is beyond awesome.

4 A Feature-Packed, Reliable Robot Vacuum
Posted by Sabrina Novak on Nov 17th 2024
UNBOXING: ECOVACS keeps the unboxing experience of the Deebot T9+ is simple. In the box, you’ve got the auto-empty base station, the robot vacuum with air freshener and mopping attachments and additional accessories. Everything was packaged well and quite intuitive and easy to unpackage for setup. BUILD: The T9+ is a well-built and well-designed robotic vacuum—which has been my general experience for ECOVACs robots thus far. Visibly on the top of the robot is the main sensor, in addition to the run button. Lifting the top lid of the robot shows the power and reset switch, a multi-function cleaning tool, as well as the dust bin that you can easily remove if it gets too full or if you need to replace/clean the filter. Fortunately, this shouldn’t be necessary since the robot will auto-empty the bin into the base station after each run. On the bottom, you can attach the two replaceable side brushes and access the main brush, wheels. I once had to access the main brush and get a cable dislodged, and was glad to find it was intuitively easy to access without needing additional tools or having to reference the manual. SETUP: If you prefer to get started hands-on, you can get started pretty quickly just using the app, but you can also reference the instruction manual which has diagrams and labels to make sure you know how each element of the vacuum works. It’s important to note that the app isn’t really optional if you want to get the most out of the T9+ and other ECOVACS products. You’ll need to set the base station against a wall where it has appropriate clearance on all 3 sides. The power cable has an organizer on the back to keep your cable management nice and clean. Switching between the air freshener module and wet mopping module is very easy, although some caution needs to be taken to ensure you don’t wetten any metal contacts on the mopping module when you fill it up with water. It’s important to mention that the T9+ will only function over a 2.4GHz wifi network, but not a 5GHz network. So be sure that whatever network you select has a 2.4GHz channel option. The app does explicitly warn you about this. Once you have it setup, you can send it off for the first mapping of your floor. CLEANING FEATURES: Once you have performed a mapping of your floor plan, you can then view a 2D map and set up cleaning zones. You can divide and merge zones, assign names to zones, and set up virtual boundaries if there are areas that you want the T9+ to avoid. For example, I have an area where I have cables on the ground and I prefer that the T9+ avoid that area altogether since it might otherwise get tangled in the main brush. Once I set up that virtual boundary, the T9+ has respected the boundary and hasn’t had any issues. You can also view a 3D map of your floor plan and select from a common list of furniture items and roughly lay them out on the floor plan. However, unlike the higher-end X1 Omni, I’m not sure there’s much practical benefit in this since you can’t use any special voice commands or tell the T9+ to “clean under the dining table”. For me, this felt more like building my home in The Sims—maybe a bit fun for visualization purposes, but doesn’t really seem to serve an obvious purpose otherwise. Also within the app you can choose specific zones to clean or let it clean all the zones. You can specify the order in which you want each zone to be cleaned if you have a preference, and you can control the water flow level and vacuum power, and even set different levels for each zone if you have a preference for deeper cleaning or perhaps need quieter cleaning in certain zones. And a feature I never would have thought of—you can enable/disable the air freshening fragrance. The included fragrance cartridge claims to last for around 60 days, and I thought it was overall pleasant without being too harsh on the nose, but others may feel differently. But thankfully, you don’t have to use it. And as with any good robot vacuum, you can set schedules for it to automatically run throughout the week. Another thing one can appreciate is that if you move the robot and base station to another floor, it will create a new map for that floor and remember it so you can seamlessly switch between floors should you decide to use one robot for multiple floors within your home. At any given time, you can edit any of the floors it has mapped and also delete a floor should you need to have the T9+ re-map a floor after a significant layout change. ROBOT PERFORMANCE: Performance-wise, The T9+ is sure to please many—especially for those who’ve never used an ECOVACS robot before. The T9+ can still get caught on cables and cords if you’re not careful, but if you keep them tidy and organized, it’s usually not a problem. Even so, the virtual boundaries can help you prevent the T9+ from entering some of those problem areas. After setting up virtual boundaries in areas that were likely to be problematic, I have not encountered any issues with the T9+ across numerous runs throughout my first week. It’s important to note that the T9+ has a primary focus on its vacuuming functionality. And while it does have a mopping feature, it’s not a set-and-forget kind of feature since you will likely need to refill the mopping reservoir and eventually dispose of the mopping pad. For those looking to mop regularly, the X1 Omni or newer T10 Omni is the star of that show. But the T9+ is certainly no slouch if you need it to do some occasional mopping. While it won’t use the quantity of water that the X1 Omni uses, the T9+ uses an S-shaped oscillating motion for quick scrubbing or a back-and-forth motion for deeper cleaning—and it does a pretty good job at it. When the mopping module is attached, the T9+ will avoid carpet, but it will still vacuum while simultaneously mopping for a thorough clean. While it might not get the stickiest messes off the floor, it certainly helps prevent any small messes from getting worse, and it’s overall efficient in doing so. The T9+ vacuumed 431 sq ft of my basement (all carpet other than a small bathroom) in 54 minutes, and it mopped+vacuumed 474 sq ft of my main floor in 80 minutes using the Quick Scrubbing pattern with Medium water flow. But it’s important to note that these numbers represent its first mapping of the area, and in the case of the main floor, I watched it obsessively clean a couple small areas that gave me the impression that it might have been “stuck”, but it never triggered an error message, and it eventually found its way out. My X1 Omni usually mops+vacuums the same floor in around 60-70 minutes. I’d expect there to be a run-to-run variance, but the results speak for themselves. My floors were cleaned, nothing was damaged, and I haven’t had to intervene once I set up virtual boundaries for areas that I found to be problematic. This is the kind of experience that any robot vacuum owner should want. And best of all, if it’s just vacuuming, I hardly ever need to do any maintenance since it auto-empties the dustbin into the base station. So unless I want it to mop, the vacuuming experience is autonomous and hands-off. CONCLUSION: The Ecovacs T9+ is another solid entry into the ECOVACS product line. And even though it’s been great for me, I do find that ECOVACS has a lot of other options that might achieve most of what I like from the T9+ at a lower price and without some of the extraneous features like the air freshener. I’d encourage anybody considering the T9+ to consider this as a recommendation since it’s overall a good product, but know that there may be other ECOVACS options that will be more convenient or perhaps even more affordable based on your needs.

5 Really great robot van
Posted by Caitlin Winters on Nov 11th 2024
Love this little device, mapped put my place with lidar, so it intelligently knows where to go and what room, I can make it do a single room if I want or the whole apartment. The mopping attachment is also a great feature and it actually does a good job. Helps me keep my place clean between deep cleans.

5 Not bad for the price!
Posted by Stephanie Johnson MD on Oct 31st 2024
It effectively fulfills its purpose and adequately maps out your home. The only downside is the limited flexibility in performing both mopping and vacuuming simultaneously; you can only choose one function at a time. Despite this limitation, considering the price, it proves to be a good product. The absence of scheduling capabilities is a drawback, but you can conveniently control it through your phone or by using voice commands with Google or Alexa.

4 Some nice extra features
Posted by Elizabeth Hammond on Oct 29th 2024
I have had another programmable vac for a couple of years. I was interested in trying the Ecovac for two aspects that my other unit doesn't have- an auto-emptying station and a mopping feature. I am very pleased with these two features. The mopping oscillates and really scrubs the floor. I am including a picture of the pad after it finished. (I had recently cleaned the floor with a wet mop.) I was surprised at how much more dirt it picked up! The auto emptying station is a really nice feature. I had to frequently empty my other robot vacuum and it was kind of disgusting. It is very noisy when it empties, but it seems to be very thorough. The app is not quite what I was expecting. I have not found a way to program cleanings while I am at work. It does let me create boundaries- so it can stay out of a room with a floor full of legos. It is not quite as sensitive as my other robot vac and gets caught up on cords and other things that might be on the floor. I usually go around and do a "pickup" before running the vacuum. It talks to you which is kind of cool. It tells you when it is stuck, or needs to return to charge. It is fairly large- 14.5" in diameter vs. 13.5" in diameter for my other robot. An inch may not seem like much but that is an inch all the way around. It does have little sweeping brushes in the front that help collect dust and debris. Overall, I really like this vacuum. I do hope a future update for the app includes a programmable feature. Perhaps it's available but I just haven't figured it out. If it is there, they should make it easier to figure out!

5 This is DEE!! robot for hard floors!
Posted by Jessica Rodriguez on Oct 29th 2024
THIS… Is Ecovacs Debot 9+ and it is around the middle range when it comes to Ecovacs portfolio of cleaning robots, but that doesn’t mean it gives middle-of-the-pack results! Wrapped in white plastic, the Debot 9+ (we shall just call it Debot moving forward) is quite the multi-use robot, being able to both Mop and vacuum at the same time! As always there are caveats and pitfalls, but let's see how it stacks up to the competition and see JUST how well the Debot 9+ will fit into my cleaning regimen. How Private is your data with Debot ============================== Debot has said that all the information regarding your house and your robot NEVER leaves the robot, and with cameras/sensors scanning your home when you are and are not there it is important to make sure your data cant be accessed to compromise your home so it was nice to see that Debot is keeping all the data inside of your home and none is, at least according to Debot, accessible to anyone else but you. Setup =============== The setup for the Debot 9+ was relatively routine, find a place that you want your base station (where your robot will always return to) fits and is near an outlet (the power cord is about 5’) and plug it in! If you are placing it on a carpeted surface (which I do not recommend but we will get into that later) then it has an attachment for the station that allows the Debot to move easier from the docking station off. Once you get the docking station placed as well as the robot placed on the docking station, then the app guides you through a setup for an account where you have to scan the robot and send it on its first mission! To map your house! After that, you have pretty much set it up, nothing glamorous but also it didn’t need to be. Appearance =============== I have to say, when I typically buy robots and the likes I am more of a black finish type of person (matt black everything gang, however, the white on this is really nice and hasn’t shown dirt or wear at all like I would be worried about. The plastic is a really nice feel and everything fits and feels like it is meant to last. I would say it is absolutely comparable to my (double the price) iRobot vacuum cleaners as well. I am quite surprised and happy with how this is built. Obstacle Avoidance =============== As with every cleaning robot, it is going to have to avoid the obstacles of everyday life! Shoes, dog toys, ottomans, and everything else moves around your house… so your Debot should move around them! My experience with the Debot was very pleasurable and I can say for sure that the only issue I had in terms of obstacle avoidance was that some of the clumps of string from my dog's ropes are still going to get sucked up and tangled… but no cleaning robot has been able to solve that riddle so I can’t fault my Debot there. The execution on everything movement has been really well executed by the Debot! App =============== This…THIS is where it gets interesting. There are things here I have seen before from other brands such as scheduled runs, adjusting the power and whatnot… and then there are some really interesting things I have seen featured on the Debot that I haven't seen anywhere else so I will highlight them. -Ability to double clean on the same job -tells you when it is tanged -tells you when to replace the mop pads (pre-set time that is adjustable) -shows the wear and tear on the machine and what needs to be replaced (pictured at the end) -On higher-end models you can use the camera on the robot to go around the house looking -a ‘deep clean’ mode that REALLY works the floors up -Can clean an individual room or adjustable zone on the map it makes. The Debot app is just absolutely well executed with one minor caveat - if you change WIFI names, you kinda have to ‘reset’ your Debot and it is super quick (less than 5 min) but when I did it, it was somewhat more nuanced than it should have been, or at least was for me. It was also a very well laid out process so I was never confused, just a few more steps than it could have been. How loud is it =============== Mine never got louder than 64db at my house, even on MAX and when it was emptying the waste bin. This was my biggest issue with my iRobot is that on its docking station, it sounded like a jet taxiing for takeoff in my living room, whereas this is just a mild rumble that I could easily not hear a few rooms over. I still keep my vacuum off the MAX setting and just to the second highest, this way I can still carry out a conversation should it come into the room. Easily a very quiet machine. Magnetic Boundary Strip =============== This is something that I did not test, however, wanted to point to it as I find it really interesting! Ecovacs offers a magnetic strip to keep the robot away from some areas altogether which really intrigues me with dogs. I will be purchasing this and leaving a comment under this with my thoughts on it, but the ability to keep it away from my pets food/water is phenomenal and I am sure you can find a reason to throw this down as well! Mopping Performance =============== I have to say, for also being a vacuum I really enjoyed how well this mopped. It was on accident either, it vacuums first and then sprays the water down and then mops in a 3 stage ordeal which I like substantially more than my iRobot M6 on the premises that my M6 sprays out in a very uncontrolled manner around my dog's water and toys and I always worry that they consume the chemicals, whereas this sprays it straight down to the floor. Yes, there are tradeoffs and you certainly get less spread with this method but I just turn up the amount of fluid it is putting out and have accepted this uptick in cost in terms of safety for my dogs. This was a huge +1 for my Debot. Outside of HOW it mops, it mops a little bit better than a Swiffer but nothing deep clean. I can say that I never walked into my house and saw dirt that it couldn’t tackle as well. I would say that this mop can hold its own against all but those that use steam and I would rate this in the upper echelon of robot mops… and it also Vacuums! Vacuum Performance =============== Now, we can get into the numbers on how well this sucks and blows, but lets skip the formalities and get straight to the meat here. This thing SUCKS… I don’t have much carpet but it left some CLEAN lines on my carpet when it does. I would say it has almost completely replaced my dyson, unless I need to deep clean and I need that extra sucking power, otherwise the vacuum really holds its own and on my hardwood floors it is simply the all in one solution. Truly makes me rethink why I spent so much on my other robots! How well does the Scent Pod work? ============================== This was something that I was quite disappointed in, the scent pod was quite the gimmick. I couldn't smell it, not even kinda! I tried to huff the fumes that my beloved T9+ was spitting out and unfortunately, it was a lot of things that didn’t resemble Cucumber & Oak. I hardly use the regular vacuum attachment regardless so I am not really missing out, however, was a bummer to see it not work at all. Things to know =============== You cannot use the scent and the mop at the same time, the back of the robot has a slot where the vacuum is either mopping or vacuuming and you can switch it out at any time. It can vacuum while it mops, just only on hardwood and not on a carpeted surface. The Robot Vacuum comes standard with a voice that will guide you, you CAN turn it off should you not like it. Ecovacs have made this setup very modular in the sense that should anything need to be replaced at any point in time, it is really simple to swap it out. Conclusion =============== I want to leave off with this as a special +1 for products that deliver in such a great method, this is the perfect home cleaning robot for hardwood/laminate type flooring. Unless you have really high (like high enough you have to think about it) transitions between rooms then there is really no reason to not purchase this. Yes, it is somewhat annoying to swap out the mopping for the vacuum for the carpet and personally, I would just recommend you look elsewhere if that is going to be a hassle because this is meant for more hard flooring areas and homes in my opinion. It does what it does really well, and the switching between one and the other would simply be too much for me as I would have to decide if I was to vacuum my floors or carpet and this is meant to take the thinking out of cleaning. I had almost given up on cleaning where my dog door is as my dogs are constantly in and out (and also big dogs too) and it was just constant mopping and vacuuming and the Debot has literally saved my sanity as I can just tell it to go clean that ‘room’ individually a couple of times a day on the double clean setting and I come home like I just left! Cost of replenishable =============== Vacuum bags pack of 3 and 3 Air Freshener: $35.98 Vacuum bags pack of 6: $35:98 Cleaning Solution 2L: $44.98 Mop pads (disposable) 25 pack: $29.99 Mop pads (reusable): $34.99 Scent refill pack of 3 - $19.99 Air Filters 2pc: $14.99 Estimated Cost Per year to run (I will not be taking into account the air freshener): -Mop pads (reusable): $34.99 (one-time purchase) -Vacuum bags pack of 6: $35:98 (I have estimated mine to be one per month so this is x2 -Cleaning Solution 2L: $44.98 I use about .5L per month on the cleaning solution (I use more than avg, mostly hardwood flooring) -Air Filters 2pc: $14.99 Ecovacs recommends changing these every 2-3 months so that's 4 times a year My FIRST Annual cost to run: $271.87 (235.89 if you take the mop pads out) This is an estimate and you can always swap out different things that are cheaper, personally I use the swifter hardwood fluid for their jets in all my robot mops with zero issues. Open the top and it is all the same :)
