I just received this replacement freezer from a 19 year old GE 14 cubic upright manual defrost. On the positive it cooled down to zero degrees in less than 4 hours in a 96 degree garage. However, I don't like the overly tight seal. Every time I open it the whole freezer moves and it's very difficult to open. It is suppose to be the same size as my previous model, but I really don't think it holds as much!

4 Fits our needs with a couple minor issues

This upright freezer fits our needs. It has a nice interior layout and is very well lit. A couple of minor issues: The first is with the locking mechanism; it seems to be misaligned a bit and is somewhat difficult to lock and unlock. The second issue is when the door is opened and shut, if you try to immediately open the door again it is very difficult to do. It is almost as if a vacuum has been formed. I must pull extra hard to get the door to open. However, if I wait a few minutes, the door will open easily.

I am so glad I purchased this item. It is a necessity to stock up on meats and vegetables. I eat a lot if smoothies so I have the room to store my fruits also.

It was bought as a garage freezer and is doing its job. Door control is nice -- no need to open it to adjust settings. Internal light is effective, frost free function is nice in our humid area. Feet are very smooth and the floor is slippery because of epoxy coating, so the unit can slide some when I pull on the door to open it.

Best upright freezer I’ve ever own. Love the fact that it has an alarm when the temperature drops. I do find it concerning that if you shut the door too hard it will bounce open and if you don’t realize it, the alarm will let you know it’s still open.
