Cools Fine But Power Saver Mode Not So Good

Posted by Mrs. Jessica Rodriguez on Oct 28th 2024

Used only a few days while getting quotes for new central AC, cools 550sqft fine. Wifi works well; as such, I haven't used remote. Easy install, relatively quiet. My only complaint is something that I also saw in another review, i.e. the power saver mode is pretty much useless. Temperature range swing for on/off cycle much too large, My central unit cycles on/off within one degree, don't know degree swing this one takes because I have to go back to cool mode before I ever find out. My 4 of 5 instead of 5 of 5 stars is result.

    Cool and Quiet

Posted by Scott Robinson on Oct 27th 2024

Purchased the 12000 BTU Smart Window AC. It was easy to install. The ECO setting works great for a 15x20ft room. The unit is quiet. Family has been keeping comfortably cool during this CA summer. I am happy with the purchase. Minus 1 star because I cannot get the Smart part to connect. (I will keep trying)

Light, easy to install and runs great. Much better than the older unit it replaced. Turns off when it gets to the temp. that you set. making it quite and saving money.

    Best money spent!!!

It's sleek and clean looking. Super easy to install and maintain. You get an alert anytime the filter needs to be cleaned as well. You can operate the unit by the app on your phone which is super convenient. It's not too loud and it cools very well. I'm using this in my single wide mobile home. It's cooling my living room and kitchen area perfectly. I would def purchase again.

A month after purchasing and this unit is already out, currently waiting for a technician to come take a look at it to see what’s going on

    Good cooling; Useless Eco mode

Posted by Jacob Parker on Sep 29th 2024

This unit is used upstairs in a mostly unoccupied room to keep the temps and humidity down. It's replacing an 8yr old Frigidaire, also 12k BTU. The Frigidaire was slightly more efficient and used 100w less when the compressor kicked on - about 960w Max while the GE hits almost 1050 max. One weird thing is that GE has another model that states the same SEER rating yet uses 9.5 Amps which matches the Frigidaire. I don't see how this model and AHP12LZ can have the same efficiency rating when one uses 100w less. I didn't get the other model because they weren't in stock and this model was the "Deal of the Day." Operation mostly way quieter than the Frigidaire, but once the water pools in the back of the unit (to help with efficiency by throwing water on the coils) there's a lot of pinging. I was worried that the coils were freezing because it's what it sounded like so I went on the roof to check it out. Draining the pan and the pinging went away. So it was just the water being tossed. The worst part of this unit is Eco mode. I don't know what it is about American companies that they want to have useless Eco modes for some reason. I set the AC to 78 and Eco. The temp did get down to 78 but Eco mod wouldn't kick back in until it hit 86 and then drop it back down to 78. The rest of the night it rose to 85 and the AC never kicked on. The humidity was 68% and muggy. Going by this differential, I'd have to set it to 72 to get it to kick in at 80, but then it would try to cool it to 72. How's this economical? So now I have to burn about 140w for every moment the compressor isn't running just to keep the temps bearable, even on auto mode it's pulling 140w on low. I wish that I didn't have to use the extra electricity when not needed. My Frigidaire was almost as bad. I had to set it to 74 for it to kick on at 81 and cool to 78 (not sure why it wouldn't try for 74). At least I could keep the differential in a decent usable range. My Midea and LG work(ed) as intended and keep the room nice, cool, and dry within the range I set it. The app allows scheduling of not just powering on and off, but temp, mode, and fan speed. You can also do this with Alexa or Google Home if that's your preference. The SmartHQ also gives you a rundown of how much electricity you've used. Other than the busted Eco mode - that I assume they could tweak via firmware update - the unit works wells.
