2 Avoid “Open box” even if marked excellent

We purchased this microwave as an open box item, citing it was in excellent condition. The bottom has been banged up pretty good and fairly dented in, as well as the top, thankfully it still works and those damages are not visible. The screening on the front was cut and that damage is visible. After waiting over 3 weeks because the first microwave was lost in delivery we were so desperate to have a microwave we just decided to keep it since it worked.

1 Misleading dimensions and wrong advertising

A very poor job by Best Buy misleading the buyer by posting wrong dimensions in their web page . This oven is huge compared to what ever is advertised and doesn’t even fit my space . Check the dimensions what ever Best Buy is showing and the actual dimensions on the box that I posted below . It’s going back right away .

1 Best Buy's poor customer service

The microwave quit working within 30 days of purchasing it. It no longer heats up any food. I called Best Buy and they refused to do anything about it, even though I was willing to exchange it. Apparently, if you don't spend more money with them to purchase extended support, Best Buy will not stand behind any product it sells after 15 days!! Best Buy asked me to call GE warranty, which I am in the process of doing to schedule a service visit. But I am appalled at how Best Buy operates, unwilling to help its customers when it sells a product that quits working within a month!!

5 Sweet microwave

I love this microwave, but sometimes it's smarter than I am. It took me a couple of times to understand when my renovation was going on and somebody was unplugging the microwave that if I already put food insid, then plugged it back in pressed Express 1, it demanded that I put food in the microwave before it would power on. At first I didn't understand the way it presented this demand. "FOOD", it said. Once I opened, then reclosed the microwave door, it worked flawlessly. Thank goodness it's not as complex as my smartphone.

1 Don't Buy from BEST BUY !!!!!!!

I have ordered 2 "open box Excellent" microwaves. Last month the first one arrived broken. I was obviously put into the box already broken. All sides were dented in, the door could not open, there were parts rattling around inside (electronic parts). There was missing packing material and no manual. There was tape over all the dents and broken door labeled "inspected by BestBuy". It was obviously taped up before it went in the box. After many hrs on the phone, I was refunded and UPS picked up the broken microwave. I was assured that I could reorder another "open box Excellent" microwave and they would insure that it was not damaged. The second one arrived worse than the first. There was not any packing material, just a broken microwave in a box. This microwave was also put into the box already broken. There are dents inside, the door glass is broken, no manual, rattling parts inside again. After 2 hours on the phone Best Buy tells me that they will not compensate me for the problem because it was "open box". I am asking for a gift cert so I can buy a new microwave to maybe get it delivered unbroken. I can not walk, so can not get to a store to purchase one. Best Buy is obviously sending out their garbage to customers and the company policy is setup to hurt the consumer.
