5 Nice sharp looking microwave oven
Posted by Danielle Nelson on Nov 28th 2024
Good looking microwave oven. Install process went flawlessly. Need to be careful with drilling holes in overhead cabinet, with misaligned holes it will be hard to get the top screws into the oven. The back template was spot-on. Used this to fix the back bottom support. Oven has interesting orange led display. Has a lot of cooking options.

5 Perfectly represents what it is, a good basic MW.

Model: MAYTAG MMV1175JZ This model replaces an older Amana that worked well, but the white painted surface started to flask off everywhere from repeated heat cycles. This seems to be a common issues with the painted interiors after awhile. Thus, we opted for a stainless steel interior this time. The Amana was working fine, but 1/3 of the interior paint falling off just got to be a pain…and cleaning it up every time to keep it out of food was iffy. We bought the exact same features we had before, a good solid 1000-watt model. No fancy stuff we will never ever use and those go bads don’t make it last loner EXCEPT the stainless interior! The 10 year warranty on the magnetron is nice in that it seems to say it will last but in 9-10 years, I doubt it will really be an advantage getting it fixed. The display board is another trouble spot. It functions as advertised. Plenty of cooking power and SHINY stainless steel room inside. It is quieter than the Amana and allows the TV to be heard when cooking. I can’t say it is the quietest, or if you will think it is quieter. That all depends on where you were before but for us, it is well quieter. The vent fan is noisy though, so that’s that. You won't miss the oven beeping at you anywhere in the house. Figure that's good or bad depending on if you are in the basement or upstairs and still want warm food I suppose. It is a nice looking oven, with a flat front and push button. I’m a handle kind of guy bit the push button seems OK now that we have it. We could not find a good model with SS and the handle, both, that was well rated and in the medium price range. The exterior finish does seem to keep finger prints in check. It's flat so no big deal, a swipe of glass cleaner and you're done. For all the downgrades on this model, they don’t make sense. It is what it is and yes, it has an orange display, it does NOT have a table on/off, it does NOT have three stage cooking or sensors. It is a good basic microwave oven. I can’t ding it for being what it is. Few offer a stainless interior and that’s the feature it has and was needed along with a decent price and durability rating. A porcelain finish would be OK, but the less reliable and more expensive brands offer that finish. We stayed with the better-rated MAYTAG based on consistent durability reports. Installation is fine except for one thing I still haven’t figured out. The template for the UPPER three holes (two bolts and the power cord) placed the two bolts perfectly, but the power cord hole was off a country mile in my words. I never moved the template making all three holes. The rear wall holes were fine with the template. Dead-on. For me it was no problem up top, as I had a one inch gap between the oven top and the cabinet (I used one-inch wood spacers under each of the two securing bolts to take up the space). How two holes can be perfect, and the third off was puzzling. I simply threaded the power cord over to the hole and slipped the excess between the top of the oven and the bottom of the cabinet. I could not get the template to recheck as it was tossed out before I mounted the oven and did all the prep work. My bad on that. If you install one of these things, slid the power cord through the template hole and align the front two holes on the oven and see what you got BEFORE drilling the upper cabinet. If you have a FLUSH top cabinet fit and require a perfect power cord alignment this step might save some grief. All in all a nice oven as long as it works as it is today. The Amana is 14 years old and still going, we have that to compare expectations to. They can last a good bit it seems. The build quality erosion seems to have tapered off from earlier years where stuff just got worse. This is nearly the same general build quality as the replacement oven for what that's good for. MAYTAG makes it's own design's even though Whirlpool ( a good rated oven too but no SS interior!) owns them. The Maytag is starting the real time quality journey. Our Maytag washer and dryer are 36 years old and just one new belt on the dryer!

5 nice stylish mic
Posted by Amanda Rodgers on Nov 1st 2024
its big square and boxy looking. and with its stainless steel inside cooking area its very nice on the eyes. i love it. it looks soo professional looking. yes it takes up alot of space but i love a good big microwave. plenty of room for big dishes. very easy to clean inside and out with its stainless steel design. simple controls. i would ask someone to help install this. i did it on my own and it was very heavy. maybe 50ish lbs. try aligning this on a wall with one hand and securing it down.

5 I love my Maytag microwave!
Posted by Norman French MD on Oct 23rd 2024
I have only had it for a couple of weeks, but it is very nice and I like the fact that it does not make much noise at all. You can barely hear it. I also like the fact that it does not have a handle for the kids or maids to break off. And I just like Maytag products all around. I currently have a Maytag dishwasher and Maytag washer and dryer, and love love love all of them.

5 A great microwave
Posted by Bryan Jackson on Oct 22nd 2024
We love this, and recommend it. We saved a little money by installing it ourselves. I'm not sure that was the wisest choice but we worked it out. It was worth it seeing my husband set up little jacks (like car jacks) to hold it in place while he adjusted it. The installation was straight forward we just needed to handle the weight. Any way we recommend it.

5 Excellent looks and performance
Posted by Jack Dyer on Oct 17th 2024
Our old microwave died and we needed a new one. We were looking for a basic model. Looked at all the brands, which all seemed similar. We saw this model and for twenty bucks more it was slightly larger capacity and stainless on the inside! Also liked that it doesn’t have a handle, so it doesn’t stick out quite as much. The exterior looks better than the rest also. We use a microwave for all the basic functions: popcorn, frozen meals, reheat leftovers and it processes these all excellent. And love the Maytag brand. Would recommend to all.
