    Great cooking options, Synchronized finishing

Posted by Jose Moss MD on Dec 12th 2024

The Double Stack XL has a large selection of heating options and the versatility of two ovens to use, even at the same time. Design The Double Stack XL has a clean stainless steel look with nice, large windows to see in the two, distinct, ovens. The controls are all on the right side, split top and bottom for the top and bottom oven respectively. The top has one level to put things on, which makes sense due to the space. The bottom has two levels to put things on. The top oven has heating elements on the top and the bottom. The bottom oven has no visible heating elements, and I think relies on the air circulation with vents on the back and right side of the inside of the bottom oven. Both the top and the bottom ovens have a light in the back that illuminates the inside very well - there's a dedicated light button at the bottom right of the controls. It has a crumb tray for the top oven. There's no crumb tray for the bottom oven but that oven isn't for toasting and, because there are no heating elements in it, it's easy to wipe out if needed. The door splits in an interesting way to accommodate the top and bottom oven. If you just pull the handle, the top and bottom oven are then opened. If you press the button on the handle and then pull the handle, only the top oven opens. This works very well but it does mean that you cannot open the bottom oven without opening the top oven. Since food you would make on the top oven tend to take less time then food in the bottom oven, it's probably not a big problem. There is a "Smart Finish" button that makes both the top and bottom oven finish at the same time. I think that's a great feature to have and neat way to take advantage to two separate ovens in one small appliance! The display on the control doesn't even look like it's there until you turn it on and use it. Words and numbers appear over/through what looks like stainless steel. I'm not sure how they do that but it looks cool and is easy to read. If you were going to use it in direct sunlight I'm not sure how visible it would be, but I think it makes the Double Stack XL looks more clean. The heating elements in the top oven look like they are designed to distribute heat more evenly, but they also seem like they would be harder to clean over time. Controls and Display The buttons are very easy to read and press. You start with the "Top" or "Bottom" button to turn on the respective oven controls. There's a nice, large, dial at the bottom to select the cook mode. Press on the dial to select. Press a button for "Cook", ""Time", "Shade", or "Slices" and then use the same dial adjust cook time or temperature. As mentioned above, you can use the "Smart Finish" button to synchronize the top and bottom ovens so that they both finish at the same time. I really like the way the controls are easy to use and the way you don't even see the display until you turn it on but the display is easy to read when it's on. When you have an item in each oven you will see both cook times. You can also adjust temperature or time while things are already being cooked. As mentioned above, there is a dedicated light button at the bottom right of the controls which works very well to illuminate both the top and bottom ovens. I included a picture where I'm baking a frozen pizza in the top oven and air frying French Fries in the bottom oven. Features The following items are included: - 2 wire racks - 2 sheet pans - 1 air fry basket - 1 crumb tray - Temperature probe and holder The biggest features of this oven for me is somewhat obvious but important - the way that in a relatively small kitchen appliance you can heat two completely different things in two totally different ways at the same time, even using "Smart Finish" to end them at the same time, if you want. I listed the temperature probe and holder because I do love this! A holder is included that you wrap the probe around, and it's magnetic, so you can stick the holder on either the left or right side or the top, wherever it fits and is convenient. I like having accessories and places to store them. I have a picture of it on the side of my Double Stack XL. Baking, Toasting, Air Frying I've been very happy with the results of things I tested this toaster oven with. From baking cookies to air frying a frozen, deep-dish pizza, the Double Stack XL gives lots of great heating options and produces very good results. I dumped a whole bag of frozen French fries in the air fryer tray and made them in the bottom oven while making a thin, pepperoni, frozen pizza in the top oven. Even with them dumped in they were loose enough and the tray allowed for enough air flow that the fries got done very well. None were burnt and they got toasted nicely. A few here and there that were in clumps didn't get fried the same way but they weren't cold. Excellent results for the air fryer! I like having such a large air fry tray to spread things around in, that's what allowed so many fries to get done so well. They seemed to be done evenly too in the tray. I also tried making a thin crust frozen pizza in the bottom oven. That seemed to get done more in the back left and front right. It was good and heated through but it would have been good to turn it half way. I made the same kind of thin frozen pizza in the top oven (recommended in the manual for frozen pizza) and that heated very well, and a bit more evenly I think. I tried a think crust frozen pizza in the bottom oven and that was definitely done more in the back. Rotating it half way would have been a good idea. It got very hot through, even though I had it on one of the included trays and not directly on a rack. I had it on the second level, 350 degrees, for 32 minutes. The box said 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. I think if I rotated it half way and did it for 30 minutes it would have been perfect. It was still really good! The cheese in the back was just dark. The first thing I made was a bagel. I used the "Bagel" mode and then got distracted. I didn't even watch and the default setting was "4", which was too long, and it started smoking and got mostly black. After that, I made another bagel with the "Bagel" setting but set it on "2" instead of the default "shade" setting of "4" and it was heated well. So think it's fine as a toaster but just be aware that the default setting, if you do not change it, may burn your toast or bagel. Pictures I've included four pictures. One showing a thin frozen pizza baking in the top oven while I'm air frying French fries on the bottom oven. One picture shows chocolate chip oatmeal cookies (fairly large ones) in the oven and another picture with the cookies when they were done - and very good. There is also the picture I mentioned above of the thermostat on the side of the Double Stack XL. Two of the pictures can give you a good idea of the lighting in the ovens as well. Summary I think the Double Stack XL is a feature rich toaster oven/air fryer/counter top oven. I was very happy with the results in general, but some things, like pizza, I would rotate half way through. The versatility of the different cook modes, and two ovens that can be used at the same time, add a lot of value and make this a great kitchen appliance!

    Excellent Multi Purpose Tabletop Oven

Posted by Jeffrey Curtis on Dec 8th 2024

This is a great multipurpose air fryer/oven/toaster. It cooks quickly and both layers can be operated independently which opens up a lot of flexibility for cooking larger meals. It’s a lot bigger than your standard toaster oven, but the additional functionality more than makes up for that large size. The package includes the oven, 2 sheet pans, 2 wire racks, an air fry basket, 1 crumb tray, and an integrated thermometer. This oven is quite large compared to a conventional toaster oven, but I was able to fit it under my kitchen cabinets in the place of my toaster without having to move too much around. The power cable is a little over 3 feet long. The cook functions are navigated via a single knob that rotates and clicks and then additional functions are selected related to time/temp or whatever applies on that particular mode on 2 additional buttons. You can select the top or bottom ovens and set them up independently or simultaneously. The Smart Finish option also lets you set up the cooking so that both ovens finish at the same time. The menus and navigation seemed a little complex at first, but I was pretty dialed in on it after a couple of minutes and it felt intuitive after that. The top oven is mostly a conventional toaster oven and has variations on bake and toast functions. The baking is not as fast as the bottom oven, but it still works well and preheats quickly. As a toaster it’s fantastic, especially for bagels. The bottom oven is the larger of the two and has all the air fry functionality. As an air fryer it works great - even better than the Ninja Speedi we have been using. It also works great as a convection oven. We’ve made pizza, brownies, vegetables, and various frozen appetizers on it and they’ve all turned out great. In the week or we’ve had it and with daily use it’s stayed pretty clean. According to the manual, the sheet pans are hand wash only and hand washing is recommended for the air fry basket. I will say the sheet pans have been through my dishwasher a few times now before I found out they were not dishwasher safe and they seemed to have held up well, but the manual warns that the finish can degrade in the dishwasher, so hand wash it is from here on out. Some miscellaneous items: - I have not had a chance to try any of the thermometer functionality yet, but I love that it’s built-in and that the oven lets you cook meat to specific ‘doneness’ levels. - As the oven ends its cooking cycle, the lights will gently turn on, which is a nice touch. - The oven includes a recipe book with 15 different recipes ideas made specifically to utilize both of the ovens. - With this oven the fans are on the side and not the back, so it’s something to keep in mind in terms of how you are turning your food if that's something you need to do. Overall I’m really happy with this oven. The 2-layer oven system combined with our conventional oven is going to make larger meals a lot simpler to handle. The amount of versatility you get from this oven is great and it replaces both my toaster and my air fryer, so it’s not contributing to my kitchen gadget glut. And being more compact it works so much better in situations where you don’t need a full size oven, which for my household of 2 is most of the time. I’d definitely recommend it.

    Doublestacked countertop convenience

Posted by Martin Gamble on Nov 30th 2024

The Ninja DoubleStack XL Countertop Oven & Air Fryer combines pretty much every countertop appliance other than a coffee maker into one (rather large) unit. Ninja has outdone themselves with the capabilities of this cooker. Thanks to the smart DoubleStack design, you can use multiple cooking modes at the same time to prepare meals even faster. #Unboxing and first impressions# The Ninja DoubleStack XL is huge. I feel like I have to get that out of the way early because from the moment you open the box and realize it's not entirely full of packing materials you start to think it might be too big. I was hoping to replace a rather large air fryer and my standard popup toaster with the DoubleStack, and in that sense it does take up less square footage on the counter. Still, making it fit with the decor of my kitchen required re-arranging things a bit. Included in the box you get a basket for air circulation when using the air fry mode, two standard racks, two baking sheets, and the Pro Cook thermometer probe. #Using the oven# The DoubleStack basically divides its features across the top and bottom chambers. The top chamber has basic bake, broil, reheat, and toaster functions. The bottom chamber has convection bake, air fry, and roast/air roast functions. One of the coolest features of the DoubleStack is the automated "Smart Finish" mode that syncs the cooking cycles between top and bottom so they finish at the same time and your food is hot and fresh and ready to plate at the same time. The air fryer function of the DoubleStack works very well. So far I've tested it on single layers of frozen foods in the basket and it produces a nice crisp outer layer and even heating inside things like chicken nuggets and breast patties. I did notice that I need to up the temperature slightly from my previous air fryer to get the same finish. Where my previous air fryer would get a crispy outer layer at 370 degrees, I found that 390 to 400 was perfect on the DoubleStack. I've also used the toast, bake, and reheat functions in the top oven and they work as expected. The toast function with the "Shade" setting is awesome. It's super easy to get the perfect doneness on your toast. I have not used the Pro Cook sensor yet, so I cannot speak to its efficacy. However, I wanted to highlight how smart it is for the sensor to have its own magnetic attachment that sticks to the side of the DoubleStack. Makes it very easy to keep from losing this important accessory. #Conclusion# I'd recommend the DoubleStack XL for anyone looking for a do-it-all countertop oven that has a premium look at a reasonable price. It's easy to use and get good results cooking quick favorites, with the ability to cook pretty much anything you can fit into the oven. I can't wait to roast chicken and pork shoulder in this oven soon.

Nice oven, feels a bit outdated

Posted by Stanley Chang on Nov 26th 2024

Introduction Ninja is well known for making a wide variety of small appliances. Ninja is now jumping into the small oven category. Going in I have a good number of Ninja small appliances, so I was looking forward to see what innovation they included into this oven to make it stand out. What comes in the box? Out of the box you get the main oven, 2 base pans, 2 grill tops, a crumb tray, a meat thermometer, and a inserts (Recipe guide) Minor wins I do really like the utility of having two separate ovens in one that have their own separate temperature cook rate. Major wins Usage The overall build quality of the oven is quite nice. It’s also surprisingly light. Setting it up is super simple. You plug it in and add the crumb tray, the base pan, and or the grill top. You have a lot of options to choose from on either floors of the oven. The top oven is a toaster oven, and is for quick cook options, and the bottom is an air fryer, for longer food items. I think that’s why you have the option of opening just the top so you can quickly remove and add more items. You can choose the presets and go from there. You also have the option of using the manual meat thermometer to cook your meat to the proper temperature without too much worry. I am absolutely shocked that there isn’t an app to use with the oven. I thought everything came with an app these days. I say that sarcastically, but I think in this case, an app would have made a lot of sense. The app can let you see how much time is left, but most importantly, you can see what the temp on the meat thermometer is just in case you want to undercook something to baste and continue. I used it to make a batch of fries on the bottom, and reheated some fried chicken on top. Both came out crispy and no oil was used whatsoever. Clean up is easy. Simply clean the pan or the tray and that’s it. I do like the light that dims on and dims off. I do wish this oven was a little larger. Minor issues The meat thermometer port has this little silicone plug that is attached to the unit and the other side plugs into the port. I’m guessing it’s for dust protection. My gripe is that the plug doesn’t go into the port completely. In fact, it just dangles there. Like I said, it’s a minor gripe. Another minor issue is that both doors can’t be opened independently. You can open the top door by itself by pressing the button. You cannot however do the same for the lower half. I think it would have been nice to have a push button that releases a lock on the lower half. Major issues The control panel is straight forward, but flawed. I have many appliances that have touch panels, so to see a turn knob on a modern appliance is disappointing. You have to turn the knob to choose the cook category, and then press temp/shade and then turn the knob again, and the same for times, and the manual temp option. It’s just odd seeing a lack of a touch panel on an appliance in 2024. I would think it may cost the manufacturer a little more to add it on. Maybe on the next version? Primarily for People who either have space in their kitchen and want the utility of having two mini ovens, or people who just want the comfort of having an extra oven. Probably not for People who have very limited space on their counter space already. All in all It’s a great little oven. It has its flaws, but in terms of overall usability and functionality, it’s great.

    Great Double oven!

Posted by Tyler Huber on Nov 14th 2024

This small oven is great. It has a dual action that can cook two different foods at different temperatures and times. The setup is easy and the features are very simple to follow. It also features a release button for the top portion of the small oven. This helps in case you need to access the top portion of the oven while the bottom is in use or not. According to the manufacturers suggestion, the top portion should be used for small items or to toast. The top of the oven has the options of cooking using several methods like Broil, toast, bagel, bake, reheat and just keep warm. The bottom of the oven has the option of Roasting, Air Roast, Air Fry, Convection Bake, Pizza, and Dehydrate. This oven design is great because it can keeps the temperature and smells apart from each other. That way your cookies wont have a salmon smell. The oven comes with a cooking basket, two level grills, two pans, and one crumb pan. It also comes with a external thermometer to help with monitoring thicker meats like steaks, chicken, pork and turkey. Overall this is a great addition to the kitchen. I've used it every day to cook a quick lunch and even make bacon.

Where has this been my whole life

Posted by Patrick Caldwell on Nov 12th 2024

I have no idea where this thing has been all my life and why I have never owned one but I'm glad I have it now. The ninja duel air fryer convection oven combo XL is the world's greatest invention. If it didn't come out of a box I would have swore it came from God Himself. First things first right out of the box you get a little booklet that tells you the important safety instructions and so on and so forth. Once you have read that for about 2 seconds you move on to the menu book where you find all the goodies, yummies and everything that you can do with this. I've had it running and operational in my house for 2 days and my children believe that I am a better cook than Gordon Ramsay. My salmon that I usually do in a pan came out ridiculously perfect. I will never put salmon in a pan ever again. The stainless steel and double door opening capability gives it a very aesthetic feel and sleek look to any kitchen. Even though those panels look like they're just silver panels. They're actually a little digital light up display showing you the time, temperature, and whatever else you have highlighted from the top or bottom option. I haven't had a chance to use the smart finish option yet, but if it's anything like the actual stop and go function of this combo I can't wait to see what I can do. I did undercook two things but that's just getting your timing down with your new tools. I recommend it if you don't have this or even a knockoff of this. You need to get to it ASAP. This is an amazing product and it belongs in every kitchen in America.

Excellent mini oven especially for apartment life

Posted by Carla Frazier on Nov 10th 2024

I've recently found myself living in an apartment again in a time of my life i didn't expect, so something like this that's a little more robust than your standard toaster oven is very welcome. Packaging: Comes in a pretty obvious black box printed for the product, if shipped to you it's inside another brown box. Inside is of course the unit, packaged with crumb trays, racks and an air fryer basket. It's all fairly straightforward. Use: I will say that the controls are pretty minimal, almost shockingly so, as will be obvious in the pictures. Yes there are LED displays that show up when powered on, but it really comes down to a very small number of buttons and a single dial. It's a nice minimalistic setup, but it almost feels like something is missing when you're looking at the front. But honestly that's being nit picky, because if it doesn't need it why add extraneous controls unless there's just more features that need it. I will say the unit is pretty large so be sure you have the counter space for it. You can cook two things at once or two different ways with different temps. It's rather robust for a toaster oven, having features you usually only find in full size ovens. I was able to cook two pizzas at once which was great and without having to wait forever for a full size oven to preheat and for this to do it more effectively than one at a time, it really was great. It's really a very clean look and i love that the door can function as a top only door or can open both levels at once. There's a lot of space inside so it can cook much larger things than your standard toaster oven. Honestly if there was such a thing as a gourmet toaster oven, this would be it. With multiple levels and separate temps it really can do a lot for something like this.

I Only Wish I Had Gotten This Sooner!!

Posted by Curtis Jimenez on Nov 8th 2024

I am writing this review for the Ninja Model DCT651 Double-Stack XL Countertop Oven and Air Fryer With Pro Cook System. Wow, what a mouthful! I have to be honest, when I saw that the Ninja had a folding door, I had to have it. It just looked so unbelievably cool to me. It is the first time I have ever owned an appliance with such a feature. And even now, it is still my favorite aspect of the appliance! When it arrived at my house and the delivery driver opened the back of his truck and started pulling out this huge box, I got a little nervous. Ok, so it wasn’t really huge, but it was pretty big, and I did get a little nervous. The driver had a bit of a time with it, but he finally managed to hand it to me. One thing for sure, it felt substantial. I got it into the house and set it down on the living room floor which is where I typically unpack everything. As I opened up the shipping box, I felt a sigh of relief when I observed how well packed and protected the Ninja was. This is the very first sign I look for when I get a product is how much attention and thought they invest in making sure it gets to where it’s going intact, undamaged, and ready to use. Ninja did great. While taking everything out of the box and looking at all the parts that came with, I began to wonder if they had made a mistake and sent me two different orders… there was a lot of stuff. Included with the oven was a Ninja Pro Cook thermometer with a handy magnetic storage holder, two sheet pans, two wire racks, and air fry basket and what they call a crumb tray. After completely unpacking everything, two things began to go through my mind… where was I going to store all the neat stuff that came with the Ninja, and where was I going to put the unit itself. I knew my old air fryer had to go, and I had already promised it to my neighbor, and another appliance was going to be moved to another counter. So, after getting that all done, I put my Ninja in its new home. Following the instructions, I washed everything first, plugged it in, and hit the power button. Now, it takes a bit to intimidate me, but there was a part of me that felt a little butterfly or two as I turned it on and saw all the controls and options light up. I was kind of figuring on a button or two for the top and a button or two for the bottom, but I saw a learning curve coming into play. I don’t know how they do it, but fully hidden in the brushed stainless steel are all these option lights. They only appear once the Ninja is turned on. It is truly brilliant how they managed to do this, and to make sure I just wasn’t seeing things, I turned it back off to see if I just didn’t notice it before. But sure enough, they were completely invisible. Magic! And speaking of lights, both the top and bottom sections have their own light. They’re not independent, meaning you hit the button and they both come on. They do emit a lot of light so viewing the progress of your cooking food is easy. When I mentioned a learning curve earlier, I wasn’t kidding. Ninja throws a lot into the Double-Stack oven. By reading through the Owner’s Guide before using it, you can get a really good understanding of how it works. First off, you choose whether you are going to use the top, the bottom, or both. This is done by pushing the appropriate flashing button at the beginning. (You have to choose one before you can start cooking anything). Then you choose either one of several presets, or you can choose your own personal settings, and then do you want to use the thermometer, what kind of finish do you want, etc. But like I said, going through the manual will give you a very good idea of what to do, and alleviate the learning curve I keep mentioning. The one thing I can’t stress enough is that the User’s Guide, Instruction Manual, and the included recipes will make using the Ninja super easy, and super fun. And so, after going through everything, I decided to start off with something fairly easy…a frozen pizza. I was actually excited about doing a pizza in the Ninja. I had just bought a brand of pizza I had never tried before, and wanted to see if the Ninja could handle it. Rather than choosing the preset pizza function, I chose to cook according to the package directions…400 degrees for 15 to 17 minutes. Anytime they give a cooking time range, I always opt for the middle. Ninja recommends always preheating. So, after preheating, I put the pizza in, set the temperature and the timer, and let her rip. During cooking I checked in a couple of times to make sure it wasn’t burning, and finally the beep! Now I promise I am not blowing smoke, but the pizza came out absolutely perfect. The crust was perfect, the toppings were cooked perfectly, it was one of the best store-bought pizzas I have ever eaten. It didn’t even compare to an oven-baked pizza. It was perfect! So what was I going to do next? I decided the next evening was going to be a roasted chicken. Having got my feet wet with the pizza, I was feeling a bit more sure of myself. The recipe in the recipe book used a roughly 4-lb whole chicken. So, on my way home from work the next day, I stopped by the store and found a 4-lb chicken. As I prepped it, I chose a very simple seasoning…salt, pepper and garlic powder with smoked paprika. Not only did I want to roast the chicken, I had my heart set on some garlic toast, and decided to use the Smart Finish function. As I thought about it, I knew I didn’t want to leave the garlic bread in the top oven the entire time, so I set the alarm on my watch, and when it got close to time for the Smart Finish to kick in, I took the bread out of the freezer and put it in the top when the beeper went off. In about 10 minutes everything was done and the beeper went off again. The results? I can’t say the chicken was the very best I have ever eaten, but it was done to perfection. My only complaint was about how I used too much salt. The garlic toast was perfect. I could go on and on about the other things I cooked…French fries, another pizza, and breakfast toast, but I think you get the idea that the Ninja is the perfect addition to my kitchen, and will be used A LOT! CONCLUSION The Ninja Model DCT651 Double-Stack XL Countertop Oven and Air Fryer With Pro Cook System is a keeper. It is solidly built with obviously high-quality materials. When opening and closing the door(s) there is a very solid feel to it with no tinny sounds, or wobbly hinges. The “flex” doors are a real game changer as well, keeping foods from absorbing flavors from each other. The seals are high quality and do their job well. The light is bright and illuminates the interior so that you can see everything. After familiarizing yourself with the User Manual and other literature, you will be able to jump right in and start working your magic. Now, it is a rather large appliance with a large footprint. I had to do a bit of rearranging on my counters, but it looks really good and matches my other countertop appliances. I suppose if I looked hard enough, I might be able to find something I don’t like about the Ninja, but I don’t really think so. And although my cooking experience with it has been limited, I have a feeling that this is going to be my go-to cooking appliance for a long, long time.

Very nice 2 ovens in 1 body

Posted by Laura Edwards on Nov 4th 2024

I am very happy with this Ninja Double Stack XL Countertop Oven and Fryer. It is two ovens stacked on top of each other. The model number is DCT651, it means it comes with the Pro Cook System. The finish is gorgeous, the display goes totally invisible when power off. The control is very simple, intuitive and smart. Example, to use the top oven, press the top button and use the dial to select the function. Use the other two buttons to adjust temperature and time and press the dial to start or stop the cooking. If you choose toast, the temperature becomes shade of the bread setting and time becomes how many slides of bread. The oven is of a good size for me but could be a little big for some. However, it can still fit under my kitchen cabinet. The door is designed to open flat with the handle going below the counter top. It comes with two sheet pans, two wire racks, one air fry basket, crumb tray, recipe book and a guide. The crumb tray is removable and is for the top oven only. I wish it comes with two because I would like to have a crumb tray at the bottom oven too. Air fry basket can be placed at the lower slot or upper slot of the bottom oven. You can open only the top door or open door for top and bottom oven, you cannot open just the bottom oven because it is not a two doors oven. This is a twelve in one oven and can bake, broil, reheat, keep warm, toast, cook bagel, air fry, convection bake, cook pizza, air roast, cook whole roast, and dehydrate. To be used as a toaster, it can toast up to 6 slices of bread. I toasted some bread and they came out well, don't have to stay there and keep watching to prevent it from over browning. I also cooked taquito using the air fryer and they came out crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, perfect for me. You can set different settings, times and temperatures for each oven, so the two compartments truly are separate cooking areas. It says cooking goes quicker than other oven is and it is true, even pre heating is super quick. The handle is well designed, other oven might burn your hand when you open the door if you hold it the wrong way but this oven, the top edge of the door is tapered to avoid your hand. The guide and the pictures on box seem to imply roast tray is included but when I read it carefully, it is a separate purchase. Bummer.
