    My favorite kitchen appliance

Posted by Sarah Simpson on Dec 7th 2024

The Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer & Countertop Oven + Pro Cook is a multi-functional kitchen appliance. Its simple and user-friendly design makes it an excellent choice for anyone seeking a versatile appliance for their culinary needs. As a cooking enthusiast who enjoys being in the kitchen, In our modern fast paced world, I am always looking for devices and appliances that help make kitchen life quicker and easier. The Ninja Prestige Air Fryer is a welcome addition to our kitchen that boasts several useful cooking modes making kitchen time not only quicker, but more fun as well. I have personally found that every single type of food I have cooked in this air fryer has come out perfectly. Although I haven't attempted roasting a whole chicken, which this can easily do with the included pro cook thermometer, I have successfully air-fried and roasted various types of meat, fish, vegetables, and even tofu. The results have consistently met my expectations, with each dish pulled from the appliance looking golden brown and delightfully crispy. Another thing I love about the Ninja Prestige air fryer is the fact that it preheats very quickly. This has been an issue with every other countertop air fryer / oven I have had in the past. All that said, let's dive into a detailed, yet breezy review of its features and efficiency. The Ninja Prestige boasts 10 cooking modes, making it a versatile powerhouse in the kitchen. Here's a breakdown of each mode: Air Fry: My favorite setting! Achieve crispy, delicious results with little to no oil. Perfect for tofu fries, chicken wings, pizza bites, and more. Whole Roast: Cook large cuts of meat evenly, like whole chickens or roasts, with a juicy interior and crispy exterior. I need to try this asap! Air Roast: Similar to air frying but designed for larger items, ensuring even cooking and a crispy finish. I use this setting for sheet pan vegetables and it works perfectly. Bake: Ideal for baking cakes and cookies, providing even heat distribution for perfectly baked goods. Dehydrate: Remove moisture from fruits, vegetables, and meats to create healthy snacks like dried fruit or jerky. Pizza: Bake pizzas to perfection with a crispy crust and evenly melted cheese. Broil: Add a crispy top to casseroles, gratins, or melt cheese on top of dishes. Toast: Get evenly toasted bread, bagels, or pastries with consistent results every time. Bagel: Specifically designed to toast bagels perfectly, giving you that ideal crunch on the outside and softness on the inside. Reheat: Reheat leftovers without making them soggy, bringing them back to their original deliciousness. With these 10 modes, the Ninja Prestige can handle a wide range of cooking tasks, making it a versatile and valuable addition to any kitchen. ~ Overall Efficiency and Use ~ The Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer is a powerhouse in the kitchen. It heats up quickly and cooks food evenly, saving you time and energy. Its large capacity means you can prepare meals for a family without multiple batches. You can also cook several different types of food at the same time utilizing the two levels making this an extremely efficient kitchen appliance. The digital control panel is intuitive and easy to use, making it accessible even for those who aren't tech-savvy. Clean-up is a breeze with the non-stick surfaces and removable parts that are dishwasher safe. ~ Pros and Cons ~ Pros: ~Versatile cooking modes accommodate several cooking styles and needs. ~Quick preheating and efficient cooking times. ~Large capacity suitable for family meals. ~User-friendly digital control panel. ~Pro Cook Thermometer included. ~Easy to clean with dishwasher-safe trays. Cons: ~Not really a con, but, its large size can be a bit of a space hog, especially in smaller kitchens. Make sure you have ample counter space before purchasing. ~ Final Thoughts ~ The Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer & Countertop Oven + Pro Cook is an excellent addition to any kitchen, combining multiple cooking functions into one convenient appliance. It's especially great if you have the counter space to accommodate its larger size. With its efficient performance and versatile cooking modes, it's a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to upgrade their cooking game. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to get my pizza cooking!

Excellent appliance - can't go wrong!

Posted by Victor Mcdonald on Dec 6th 2024

When this arrived, I was surprised at the weight. It is close to 35 pounds, and a bit awkward in the carton. Tipped it out, placed on counter, plugged in, and washed all the pans and racks. That's all there is to setup. This air fryer / cooker / and counter oven has numerous features and cooking modes. This can Air Fry, Whole Roast, Air Roast, Bake, Dehydrate, Pizza, Broil, Toast, Bagel, and Reheat. With the “Smart Surround Convection”, turning food over isn't necessary – it will brown on all sides. Using the included temperature sensor, you can use “Pro Cook System” to cook to the desired level of internal temperature, or how done you want the food. Of course, regular baking, toasting, roasting, pizza, etc., are all easily accomplished. It has a 2.67 cu. ft. capacity to cook larger items, and comes with two wire racks, two sheet pans, roast tray, removable crumb tray, air fry basket, and the pro cook thermometer. This has a high velocity fan to brown / crisp foods all around. You can also cook on two levels using the cooking guide that comes with the oven, which gives approximate parameters. The controls are push buttons located in the handle, and the digital readout shows exactly what you are programming. Cook method, temperature, time, light, etc. Once the pre-heat is finished, the time counts down to 0 and finishes. Pre-heat is only about 90 seconds. I really like this appliance, and can see the many uses it has. But, I do think there is a learning curve to achieve the best results. I did air fry chicken wings as per guide, and found that more time was needed to get them more crispy. Also, I found the oven did fill with some smoke. Then trying frozen french frys, again following guide, they were too over done. As said, the cooking guide is just that, a “guide”. I am sure with some practice, I will learn the best settings for perfectly cooked meals. The construction is of stainless steel, and should be easy to keep clean. Even with air frying the chicken, there was very little splatter inside the oven. The door wiped clean, and the drip pans also cleaned easily. The fit and finish is excellent. I am looking forward to continuing to use and learning all the cooking possibilities this appliance provides!

Super nice and perfect if you have a small place

Posted by Stephanie Thompson on Dec 5th 2024

I'm not too competent when it comes to the kitchen so anything that'll help me cook food more easily/quicker, is a nice bonus for me. This thing checks off a lot of things (cooking wise) that you need but with a much smaller footprint. I have a nice microwave as well as another air fryer but this thing is on another level. It's a microwave on steroids or a mini oven whichever way you look at it. It's capable of so many things that I haven't even begun to try them all out. it'll cook/bake/air fry and even dehydrate food, all in one unit. Pretty much anything you need to cook, you can cook it in here and it's relatively small so it'll fit anywhere in your kitchen. If needed, it's sorta portable too so you could take it to your family gathering for cookouts and such. I've only tried baking some pizzas/wings in mine but it worked great for that. This includes a couple different trays depending on the food you're cooking, so you won't need to worry about bringing the right pan/tray or anything. With my older air fryer, I liked to cook wings in there but since it was circular, only a few would fit in it at any given time. With the trays in this fryer, I can add more and spread them out evenly for that perfect cook. Pizzas came out quite nice as well. The controls are all on the handle of the door which makes for easy adjustment to time/temp cooking as well as using any of the preset settings enabled for this oven. Clean up on this is fairly easy since the bottom liner is removable. The different trays are also easy to clean as well. I'm REALLY interested in trying to cook a whole chicken so that's the next thing to-do with this oven. Overall, really impressed how well this thing cooks, how versatile it is and its relatively small size which makes it great for an apartment or smaller kitchen.

    A truly useful kitchen appliance

Posted by Jonathan Lee on Nov 27th 2024

We discovered how useful a countertop air fryer oven is a few years ago. My wife and I work full time from home. Back then we each had long commutes to the office. The quality of food you could cook and the time it took was a new experience. However since that time we have had two ovens fail for various reasons. One just stopped working and the other was damaged in a recent storm. Neither of these ovens were Ninja products. We have two other Ninja appliances that we use everyday. Both have features we use and they have been rock solid in their performance and value. I hope to have the same experience with the Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer. The oven comes packed very well in a large box. I was able to do the unpacking by myself. But do be careful. There is also quite a lot of packing recycling material to dispose of. This is a large oven. We placed it in our usual place that is 26” wide and 26” deep but we may relocate it. When open the door hangs past the counter. All of the controls are on the door handle. Time will tell if this is a good choice. They are easy to use and see but I have concerns about cleaning the buttons on the handle. This location does allow for a bigger door and glass. That should help make upkeep easier. The oven has 4 cooking levels on the inside. It comes with an air fryer basket, two standard wire trays, two nonstick baking pans, a roast tray to reduce smoke and a crumb tray for the bottom. With a single baking pan installed the inside dimensions are 10 ½” deep, 12 ½ wide and 7 ½ height. When in use the oven fan is loud. But not more so than the other ovens we have had. What level you place your food when following the instructions is key. Some foods cook better in the middle or bottom for example. At first I found this a little confusing but after a few meals it's actually helpful to take the guesswork out. Of course you can still cook at any level you want. But cooking is optimized by the cooking level that they recommend. One of the great features is you can find a lot of videos on how to help you understand the best cooking methods and get some great ideas. This oven also comes with a cabled thermometer for keeping track of the cooking temperature. Ninja also sells a wireless version as an accessory. For me as a novice cooker knowing I am reaching the correct temperature is a life saver. I love that feature so much I won’t ever buy another cooking appliance that doesn’t have this feature. Our initial cooking experience has been very good. We have done our usual french fries and baked potatoes. Both were delicious. We are currently cooking a full chicken and it seems to be going great. We are still learning how to use the front panel. What level you place your food at is new. But so far we are very happy with the fryer. It might be bigger than we need but as time goes on I am sure that won’t be a problem. I do most of the household cleaning and having this big door for access is going to be very nice. I sure wish I knew how useful a countertop oven is. I would have not spent so much on my gas oven when we remodeled. We almost never use it now.

Tons of Features, Made Well, Pre-Heats Quickly

Posted by Carl Cummings on Nov 20th 2024

I have been in the market for a good countertop oven and air fryer for some time and decided to try this combo that was offered by Ninja. I am so glad I went with this product! Right out of the box I could tell this was made well as it offered multiple trays to use when cooking. The door of the oven is strong , closes well and durable that I feel will last for some time. Setup / Install was very easy , just make sure you remove all the hidden tape and packaging inside the over. The instruction book is very detailed with a great "cheat sheet" towards the back. I recommend reviewing the book even for those who are familiar with countertop ovens as this product offers a ton of features. Speaking of features this thing can Air Fry, Air Roast, Broil, Bake, Norm Roast, Pizza, Toast, Bagel, Reheat and dehydrate. I got to experience the Air Fry, Broil, Bake, Pizza, Toast and Reheat however not the roast setting yet. Overall each of these features work great and I recommend to use the pre-programmed setting instead of modifying it to package settings. My brother tried to make frozen pizza , did not go with the programmed settings, went with the pizza package settings and slightly burned the pizza. The only issue I have found is that after the pre-heating it starts the timer immediately not allowing time to place the food in there. So I recommend standing near the oven during pre-heat so you dont miss the timer start. If the timer does start its not a big worry as it is very easy to reset the timer. The roast feature this has also comes with a "pro cook thermometer" its wired and can check temp throughout the cooking. The really cool feature is that it uses a "pro cook" feature that monitors the roast to get the perfect regulated temp. Unfortuantely I have not tried cooking a roast however looking forward to trying this feature out! Overall this Ninja Air Fyer / Countertop Oven is amazing! It comes packed with features and made very well. I strongly recommend this product.

One appliance with so much functionality and use

Posted by Shannon Smith on Nov 4th 2024

This Ninja Prestige Smart XL Air Fryer and Countertop Oven + Pro Cook is a great addition to my kitchen space and our family needs. The kitchen appliance that helps to consolidate so many different functions into a handy dandy countertop design. Our household relies heavily on air fryer usage for multiple meals throughout the day and this has been the main feature we continually use, and it's performed quite well for french fries, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, and tater tots for example. This allows for so many various uses and functions such as dehydration, air frying, roasting, broiling, baking, toasting, and reheating. We have eliminated our previous appliances such as an air fryer, toaster oven, and dehydrator, in favor of using this one Ninja Prestige Countertop Oven. Less appliances and less clutter is a good thing for our household and smaller kitchen size. This appliance simply plugs into a wall outlet with 120V output and operates at 1800 watts. It's a semi bulky appliance and requires a sturdy counter or kitchen island since it weighs in at about 33.75 pounds. I really like the stainless steel look and the integrated buttons/display which are built into the handle. The convection oven is what makes this such a good appliance for an even cook throughout. The Smart Surround Convection helps to distribute that desired temperature to give your food item the proper all around cook or crisp, which helps to avoid hot spots or uneven cooking. We've been making morning breakfast foods such as toast, bagels, english muffins and they've all been turning out just right for our desired look and taste. There are a total of 10-in-1 functionality for different cooking programs as mentioned earlier. Just the other day we made a small 9x9 pan of brownies which baked to perfection within this Ninja Oven. We still utilize our home oven/range for larger cooking, but the Ninja Oven makes it a great addition for when we have big meals for parties. Recently we were baking large pizzas in the home oven, while also making a lamb roast in our Ninja Oven and utilizing the Pro Cook system. This allowed us to choose our desired level of doneness and the thermometer allows for continuous temperature monitoring of the food. I feel the high powered convection in this Ninja Oven allows for faster cooking time and more evenly cooked meats. You can cook on 2 levels in this Ninja Oven and keep the food from intermingling with one another. No extra rotation of food or shaking of a basket is needed, due to the air flow of the convection oven. Ninja did a great job with providing multiple accessories such as a pro cook thermometer which connects into your food and the handle of the Ninja Oven. There is an air fry basket, roast tray, 2 sheet pans, 2 wire racks. Everything you need to get this up and running and use right out of the box. I think it's been a very short learning curve for both myself and my wife. The Ninja Oven has a nice upscale design and has a bold look while it sits on the countertop. Overall it offers a lot of functionality and use for various food creations. I'm able to eat healthier by roasting and air frying my foods without using excess oils and damaging my wellness. This is one of the best Ninja appliances I've come across since it's helped me to cook better and shorten my cooking time. Will be continually experimenting with new foods in the future such as making my own roasted whole chicken and items such as baking a pie in this Ninja Oven.

Almost replace my regular oven, Love it

Posted by Renee Monroe on Nov 3rd 2024

Ever since I got on board with air frying and convection cooking, I've gone through a few regular air fryer's and "toaster ovens" that is multi-functional. I have both taking up precious space on my kitchen counter, I use it that much. Unboxing this Ninja oven, my initial thought was, holy smokes, this thing is huge and it is. It almost took up the whole depth of my counter top. But my second thought was, holy smokes, I'm going to be able to cook so many more different things with this LOL. I don't see me ever using my oven again haha. And I'm ok with that. If you're like me and buys a lot of frozen or prepared foods from the big wholesale box stores, the Ninja Prestige is perfect for heating those up. I hated heating up my huge oven for a small tray of whatever I was feeding the family, so I usually used my toaster oven. Problem with that has always been it can be a tight fit so I would have to adjust temp and cooking time. This Ninja gave me ample space and heated up quickly so I know I'm not using as much energy. Btw, the very first thing I cooked was a 12" pizza and it fit with ample room and cooked perfectly. I was very happy. Researching this oven, I found that what makes this oven so good is the design of the interior of the oven and the fan technology. You can set your food on different levels of the oven, press the coordinating buttons to let the oven know food is on that level and it will concentrate the heating elements to that. How awesome is that? Another feature that I'm really liking is the temperature gauge that comes with the unit. It has a holder that is magnetic which can be attached anywhere you want on the oven. You can insert the temp probe into anything your cooking and set an internal temp and the oven will shutoff when the temp is reached. Ninja made it so easy. The oven also comes with so many accessories as well. All different types of trays for different types of cooking. From air frying basket to a roasting pan and more. The only thing I'm not thrilled about is that all the controls is on the door handle. But I can understand because it's giving me more size without making the oven even larger. I just have to be more cautious with my dirty hands when opening the oven. I gladly trade my counter top space for the functionality of this oven.

    Ample cooking space

Posted by Marie Kelley on Oct 22nd 2024

The Ninja Prestige Smart XL is a powerful multi-mode oven that offers plenty of space to cook all sorts of meals. It features four rack levels, from which, depending on the meal, the device allows you to choose only one or two racks for either one- or two-level cooking. I haven’t tested, but I guess you could use the four racks at once to cook. I’ve tried both levels of cooking, and so far, I’ve had better experiences with one-level cooking when compared to two-level cooking. For one level cooking, toasts and bagels have come out toasted/cooked to perfection, no complaints. We’ve also used one level cooking for reheating with no issues. Unfortunately, I haven’t had great results when using the two-level cooking; for instance when cooking chicken wings and fried potatoes, the fries placed on the top tray came out very dry with some not fully cooked, and the chicken wings placed at the bottom tray came out well cooked, but not as crispy as we would have liked it. It looks like I still need to do more experimentation with temperatures and cooking times and also on how much of the elements I put in the trays and baskets, to get the perfect meal. The device comes with a thermometer that can help you cook your different meats to perfection. You can also customize the settings to your preferences, and you can even cook complete meals in the Ninja Prestige SmartXL, something similar to what the Ninja Combi provides. I haven’t tried all the cooking modes and settings; however, so far, this makes a great countertop multi cooker/oven. The only downside I’ve found is that when you decide to do a two-level cooking, you do need to set it manually on the device. If you forget, then you’ll be cooking at the one-level setting, until you realize your mistake by looking at the front control panel (if you are the kind of distracted individual, you won’t even notice your mistake.) The “Tips, recipes and cooking charts” booklet that comes with the device gives you all you need to figure out what to do, how many trays to use, to cook your different meals (it even gives you some recipes to follow.) - Pros: spacious, four rack levels, one or two-level cooking, predefined cooking modes, configurable settings. - Cons: no two-level autodetect cooking. >> Air Fryer We decided to give the Ninja Prestige SmartXL a chance to air-fry chicken wings and potatoes. So, following the suggestions (or directions) in the “tips” booklet, we went for a two-level cooking. I placed the potato slices on the top air fry basket, and the chicken wings on the bottom sheet pan (over a wire rack), then selected Air Fry cooking mode, leaving all the default settings as suggested, but making sure I pressed the two-level cooking setting on the front panel. After 20 minutes, we noticed that still there was some more cooking to do, so we increased the time and the temperature. Soon after, about 15 minutes, we got perfectly cooked chicken wings, but without any crispiness on them; they were well cooked but no “fried” signs could be seen on them, nevertheless the taste was great (my own secret recipe.) The story with the fries was very different, I am not sure if we cut them too thick or placed too many of them in the basket, but several came out not cooked, while others were a little burnt, and basically all of them were hard on the outside, like something dehydrated the outside of the potato pieces but left most of the inside moist. Definitely, I need to see what is going on here, so I need to do more experimentation, as I would have expected for a different result. Note: now that I am re-reading the “tips” booklet that came with the device, I noticed that it mentions not to get the different chicken wing pieces to crowd each other, and I think I might have put too many chicken wings together for my first not-so-great air fried chicken wings. >> Toast I assume that toasting bread is one of the most common things done in any household. This machine can toast your bread to perfection (of course as long as you’ve chosen the right settings for how dark/light you want your toast to be.) It has room to up to 9 regular sliced bread pieces, so multiple toasts at once for the whole family. According to the booklet, only one-level cooking is allowed for toasting, so you have to place the wire rack on level 3 with your bread slices on it and proceed to toast them. I wonder if I could have two-level cooking for toasting, use level 3 with the basket and level 2 with the sheet pan, and bread slices distributed among them (well, with 9 slices capacity, perhaps I don’t even need to try this.) One thing I noticed is that there is a lot of condensation after toasting, so a good idea is to open the oven once all is done. >> Dehydration At home, we use dehydrators for different things, from mushrooms to veggies, so it came handy to have the Ninja Prestige SmartXL readily available for some of our dehydration needs. So far, the machine has done a decent job at dehydrating. Of course, I won’t be dehydrating mushrooms in this oven due to the spores, but I plan on using it on different foods, to preserve and to have snacks readily available. For one of my rehydration attempts, I chose to dehydrate apples in a two-level cooking style, the wire basket at the top on level 4 and the sheet pan (on top of the wire rack) at the bottom on level 2. I placed the same amount of apple slices on both racks. I selected Dehydration from the cooking modes, and didn’t change the default settings for temperature and time. As expected (as I expected based on previous attempts), the results were not uniform, the top wired basket pieces dried almost perfectly while the bottom sheet pan ones still needed more time. So, I moved the bottom apple pieces to the top wire basket tray and the top apple pieces to the bottom tray, and then continued the dehydration for some more time. At the end, the results were fine, albeit some manual intervention to get the pieces to dehydrate uniformly. I might place aluminum foil over the sheet pan next time, because a couple of pieces of apple stuck strongly to the sheet pan surface and I had to rub them to get them off the pan.
