    Excellent Automatic Espresso Machine

Posted by John Williams on Dec 11th 2024

Loving this automatic espresso machine ! Definitely takes some time to find your perfect adjustments for how you like your drink , but then it is easily saved to your profile. Takes brewing quite a few shots (maybe 50 or so) before making a strong brew. The key is putting the grinder setting to either 1 or 2! Definitely watch some how-to videos on how it works prior to use as it makes it so much easier . Would definitely recommend this machine to others and I already have !

    Perks You Up!

The Philips 4400 Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo Milk Frother is also know as a super automatic espresso machine. Why? Because it does everything for you, From grinding the beans into a puck and then making whatever type of coffee you desire from a simple espresso extraction to a macchiato and everything in between at the push of a few buttons! The Philips 4400 Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo Milk Frother is a really stylish and compact fully automatic espresso machine. It looks good on any counter. It has profile settings for multiple people use and saves their settings and drink selections. You can dial in the coarseness and fineness of the beans. The finer the richer the flavor. It makes a puck and then ejects it into a bin when done brewing and then it is ready to go again. It is like a set it and forget barista in your house. It's so convenient to make various types of coffees at your finger tip. Setup and use was very easy, with the onscreen instructions. Not only does it do whole beans. It also has chute for pre ground coffee. So easy to use. Pour beans in hopper, push a few buttons and voila! And the milk frother can be detached and put in the fridge when not in use with your milk. The Philips 4400 Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo Milk Frother will be the center of attention when you have guests over and serve them after dinner espressos. Your guests will be so jealous! To be honest, I can't think of anything not to like about it. It comes with everything needed to get started....except a sample of coffee beans. But understandable, you don't know how long the beans will be sitting in the box. My favorite drink to make is Vietnamese Iced Coffee with it.

Best Coffe Maker, i love it

Posted by Samantha Lindsey DVM on Nov 24th 2024

I'm in love with how Easy, Fast and Delicious my morning coffe became with Phillips 4400. This is a fully automatic coffe maker/ espresso machine and has the best milk frother i ever encountered! Seriously the milk gets so foamy all the time with virtually no work at all and the container it cannot be easier to clean or store back in the fridge in case you didn't use all the milk. The machine does it all and i love it! It's faster than i expected and does it all quietly too(not completely silent). The 12 drink type selection it's super welcomed, i walked thru all of them and they all came out as described! I love the fact that each drink is easily customizable and after finding your perfect tune for your coffe you can save the way you like it in different profiles for the next time, to save some very valuable morning time! So far my favorite drink is Latte Macchiato with an extra shot of espresso! Now the ease of setting this thing up it's amazing! You can just plug it in and follow the instructions on the colored display that walks you to every little step or scan the QR code and follow the video and at the end you can enjoy a truly fully automatic made coffe out of this super slim and stylish Philips 4400! I have been enjoying every moment spent with this machine and coffe i made so far! It's Fantastic

Do you want a cup of Joe?

Posted by Dr. Timothy Pacheco MD on Nov 20th 2024

Hi all, I want to start by saying I have had this machine for about 3 days. I have brewed espresso, a Latte, Machiatto, Crema and a cold brew. Here is what I will say about this product. So far the machine is a 10 out of 10. What swung me finally to this purchase was three things. 1. The cold brew option which I love 3. The size of the machine is bigger than a regular coffee maker but it is not HUGE! 2. The option to use a second brew method of ground coffee. The ground coffee I use is decaf. Now onto the functions that I am enjoying. I like the touch screen and how you select the options for brewing. It is really pretty intuitive with the right amount of information on the screen. It is hard to describe but I like the dedicated buttons of "back" and "ok" along with a separate button to brew. This is what lends itself to being intuitive. Then the screen helps you with information along the way to visually help you know the options plus when it is done. So far the coffee that has come out of the machine has been better that our coffee pot and it isn't really close. So if you are coming from a normal brewing this is a huge upgrade. Onto the cold brew. I love Cold Brew. I get my fix many ways. Buy it in grocery store. Buy cold brew packets that you have to let stew in fridge overnight. Buy Concentrate that also has a big container in fridge. My first cold brew out of this machine was fantastic!! It will now be my choice if I want to do these extra chores. I won't have to take up room in fridge with a glass container of Cold Brew. So if I forget no big deal. Then the extra mixing, remembering the day before, If I used my packet once or twice. Hopefully all that is in the past. Unlimited Good Cold Brew at my finger tips. I also really like the profiles. Currently I leave the default of Yellow for my partner and then I switch the profile to Blue for myself. This will keep our coffee selections personal. Finally I think when they say it is quieter they really mean it. I can tell it is doing something. It is definitely quieter than grinding beans separately. The hopper is great as it just stores the beans and then blame coffee. I had a coffee pot where there was a grinder but the steam went right up into the grinding location. So it got muddled with grounds and I was cleaning that constantly. I have made a few cups of coffee and I can tell the spent coffee disposal system system is way better with the trey and being able to take out the ground coffee in a "cup" and knock it into my compost. Great system for this. I will update later if anything changes but this so far is a great machine that will make my life easier. It doesn't have the waste of the pods. It can brew many cups one after the other when company is here. It looks great on the counter. It is deeper than a regular coffee pot but for me with coffee pot and a creamer warmer it is about the same size width on the counter. Good Luck coffee lovers. Enjoy!!

Needed Addition to any Coffee Lover.

Posted by Jonathan Marshall on Nov 5th 2024

Fantastic coffee maker. I own the 4300 also at my home. The 4400 is significantly quieter than the 4300. In the long run you save a ton of money buying Whole beans over individual pods and the quality is much better. Only thing I would change: The smoked lid is a little to dark to see through so you have to take it off to see the beans location and amount remaining.

High-quality machine for enjoyable daily drinks

Posted by Jacob Jackson on Oct 26th 2024

Verdict. The Philips 4400 Automatic Espresso Machine is a high-quality machine that makes hot and cold coffee drinks, including milk-based espresso drinks. This machine produces decent espresso that gets better over time, but of course you will not get the complexity of flavors and mouthfeel that you would get from a high-end grinder and manual machine. Among the best features, it starts up incredibly fast, all drinks are highly customizable, operation is easy and intuitive, and drinks are good! This machine will make most people very happy. Experience. I own several coffee machines, including one fully manual espresso machine, a semi-automatic espresso machine, and several fully-automatic machines. Coffee is a passion in our home; we spend a lot of time brewing, drinking, and experimenting with different coffees, brewing methods, and machines. My expectations for coffee machines are certainly higher and I am more obsessive about coffee than most people. Must read tips: (1) Fresh coffee: the most important variable in brewing good coffee is high-quality freshly-roasted coffee. You will not get good espresso or coffee with cheap, dark roast, and/or stale coffee. I recommend buying quality fresh beans from a local roaster. Fresh coffee will have a “roasted on” date, instead of a “use before” date. Ideally, consume your fresh coffee between about 6 days after roasting to about 21 days after roasting. (2) Type of beans: I recommend buying medium roast because they are not oily and have distinct flavors you can notice. I recommend avoiding dark roast because oily beans won’t slide as easily into the burrs and they will create more residue in your grinder. You should definitely avoid light roast beans because they are probably too hard for the grinder in this machine and could damage the burrs or the motor. (3) Drink ratios: for a proper espresso on this machine, use the highest dose (coffee bean icon) and the lowest yield (cup icon) - dose is how much coffee goes into the grinder and yield is how much liquid espresso you get. For a great latte or latte macchiato, first make an espresso shot, then press the latte button so you get a second shot (highest dose and lowest yield), and add 270ml of milk. For a great cappuccino, select highest dose, lowest yield, and 150ml for the milk. Initial impressions. The machine is not heavy. It’s the perfect size for any kitchen. Included in the box are: a milk jug, a water filter, a coffee scooper, some lube for gear maintenance, and manuals. The water reservoir is made of flexible plastic that should prevent from cracking if bumped against something. Setup. Getting this machine up and running took just a few minutes. Fill the water, start the machine, answer questions about the water filter, then the machine will absorb water, and it’s ready to start brewing. Getting a good espresso will take a bit more time. The initial shots are very watery… not enjoyable to drink. I made a dozen espressos in a row, as noted in the manual, and finally shots began to look darker with nice crema. The machine seems to self-calibrate after a while. Grinder. The ceramic grinder is working well on my medium roast beans. Grinding is quieter than other fully-automatic machines we have, and it’s quite fast. Unfortunately, some coffee remains in the grinder chute after grinding (you can see it through the ground coffee chute), so whenever you use the machine again (next day or a week later), the first gram of coffee may have been sitting there a while. Not that big of a deal. While the manual noted to avoid changing the grinder setting, I did adjust the grinder to grind finer by two settings. As noted in the instructions, I adjusted the grinder while it was grinding. I did so to get my flow to look a little more like smooth mouse tails (see photo). Design. Overall, this machine is really well-designed: intuitive controls, nice bright control panel with colorful icons, and lots of convenient features. The milk jug uses several parts that can be disassembled for easy cleaning. The machine automatically rinses the brew spout when turned off. In general the machine was designed for minimal maintenance: rinse the tray daily, dump the grounds daily (so mold doesn’t grow), rinse the brew group weekly, lube every couple of months, change the water filter every few months (the machine will tell you), and descale every few months, depending on water hardness levels. The “Clean” button hosts all these cleaning options, making the process really easy - well done on that! Machine operation. The button layout is easy to understand and the colors are great. Initially, I didn’t think the screen would add much to the brewing experience, but I really love it now; it’s a very nice upgrade from the 3200. Profiles are a nice touch too. Customization of drinks save automatically to the profile in use once the press button is pressed. Customization is also much easier than on the 3200… this is by far the best improvement. After that, operation is essentially “two touch” (press the drink you want and then press the brew button). Espresso. For best results, I recommend brewing at the highest dose (how much coffee goes into the grinder) and lowest yield (amount of liquid that comes out). From my estimation, this is close to a 1:2 ratio (ideal for medium roast), with a yield of 30g. While the crema is great, shots are just decent, without much acidity, but also without complexity and or strong flavor. Definitely better than any pod machine, but not on the same level as a manual machine. The 2x function allows for easy double espresso brewing (the machine will brew two espressos in a row), but 2x cannot be saved as the default for the espresso drink. Things I love: - This machine looks great: nice color combo, good-looking screen, vibrant colors on the control panel - It doesn’t make drinks like a fully manual 9-bar espresso machines, but it makes very enjoyable drinks - Very intuitive controls - Highly customizable drinks: control dose, yield, and milk ratios (not foam level) - It can dispense hot water only (great for tea) and foam milk only (wonderful for hot chocolate) - The machine seems to adapt brewing over time. The espresso is getting better without adjustment of the grind setting; that’s really interesting - This machine can grind whole beans or process ground coffee - The 2x espresso option is very convenient (brews two shots in a row). However, 2x does not get saved as the default - The milk jug comes apart in several pieces, allowing for easy cleaning. Makes foam without a hard-to-clean tube - The bean hopper cover has a slight tint and has a seal, both helping to keep beans fresh - Handles helped to pull the machine out of the box for easier unpacking… thank you! - Easy maintenance, mostly done my the machine (daily rinse); just need to keep up with some rinsing, lubing, and water filters - Great size for any counter Things I don’t love: - As expected, this does not produce exquisite espresso and beautiful micro foam (like manual machines). However, for the convenience, the tradeoff will be worth it for most people. If you are used to the quality of manual machine, you will be need to manage your expectations. In all, drinks are enjoyable! - Terrible sticker on the bean tray lid… Took over 20 min to peel it off. Really frustrating! - Ratios for the milk drinks need to be customized to get the best out of this machine. Someone without experience may go through trial and error before achieving the best drinks. Thankfully, the machine allows for ample adjustments so you can get to great drinks. See tips above - A lid with a seal for the milk jug would be better to keep the milk fresh while in the fridge - Beans fall into the screw hole of the grinder cover, and stay there forever - No easy way to remove leftover beans because of the grinder cover. I have to just grind through the beans if I want to swap out beans Overall, the Philips 4400 is a convenient, intuitive, good-looking and capable machine that can make decent espresso and good milk-based drinks. We are actually very happy with this machine, primarily because of the very fast startup, two-touch operation, and enjoyable drinks that it prepares. This is not a cheap machine, but the value is definitely there for us; if you buy quality freshly-roasted coffee, it will make better drinks than big brand coffee shops, giving more enjoyment and saving you money after less than a year. And it’s way better than a pod machine. I highly recommend it!

    Nice little machine

Bought this coffee as a gift and some days I miss kcup machine. I like the frothy coffee it makes. It takes several try to get the flavor come out right. It’s little weak at first. Haven’t tried cappuccino options. I like the espresso option.
