Clean air with an added fresh scent

Posted by William Gonzalez on Dec 5th 2024

About two years ago my family began using a super fancy and extremely expensive Air Purifier. Strangely the purifier left the air smelling like hot glue, or something burning. I thought that maybe I had failed to unwrap part of the HEPA filters inside, but I found no such issue. Though the purifier said that the filter was good for hundreds of additional hours, we stopped using the device. A new filter cost over $100 and we didn't want to risk wasting so much additional money. Recently, my wife opened a salon in our house and we wanted to ensure that her clients aren't able to smell our pets. I didn't want to use the existing purifier, so we ordered the Shark Purifier. Both of us were immediately impressed. We haven't needed to bother with adjusting any settings or trying different modes, the automatic mode has been spectacular. The purifier is extremely quiet and starts working as soon as it detects any particulates in the air. After just a few hours we noticed the air feeling cleaner and actually smelling fresh thanks to the "Odor Neutralizer" tabs. While I love how simple and effective the Purifier is, there is very limited information about what they only seem to refer to as "Odor Neutralizer Technology". There is a little plastic disk that twists into the top of the device that seems to be basically an air freshener. There is no real mention of what the scent is, or how long the scent is intended to last, or where to buy replacement scents. Thankfully the scent is not too strong and actually seems fairly pleasant - similar to the scent of a dryer sheet. There seem to be generic replacements sold on several 3rd party websites, but nothing seems to be official. Besides the oddness of the "Odor Neutralizer Technology" discs, we love the Shark Purifier. The display clearly indicates how clean the air is and automatically adjusts the speed of the fan to ensure that the air is cleaned back to 100%. The smell of pets and cooking has been eliminated from the air and my wife's salon clients have never mentioned any smells in the air. As long as the odor neutralizer discs don't cause problems, I am completely satisfied.

No more dog smell or kitchen cooking odors!

Love this! We have a dog and a cat. Helps with pet hair. The best is having it near the kitchen. This machine tackles cooking smells and works so well! Don’t waist your money on cheaper ones. You will end up spending more on replacing those. Spend the money and get this!

Cleaner Air at a Solid Price

Posted by Luis Jackson on Nov 4th 2024

With a wood stove and cat, this does a great job at keeping the air clean in a 1000 sq ft space. The odor eliminator puck emits a light and pleasant scent. Very straightforward on how it operates and touch pad is easy to use. Only the highest fan speed emits a louder noise but will recycle the air quickly. Personally, running it on 3/4 seems to be the trick when I’m around and then knock it down to 1 or 2 (or auto, not a fan of auto while around the unit during times of varying quality) for extended periods away from the space. Noticeable decrease in dust accumulation. A few detractors: It’s difficult to tell if the air quality sensor is truly accurate (reacts to cooking, wood stove startup and cat using the litter box which it should but will randomly decrease at other times, sit at bad air for a bit and then jump back up to good) and the fluctuations in fan speeds when it teeters between two air quality levels when set to auto would be annoying to some. Would be nice to have washable prefilter but it’s easy enough to bang out the dust outside and vacuum to add some longevity to the filter. It’s a great unit and price for what it does. A little bit of maintenance and this will keep your air clean. Don’t be ocd about the air cleanliness level indicator and you’re golden. Order a replacement filter before you need it too so it’s a quick swap when the time comes, definitely don’t neglect!

SHARK MAKES THE VERY BEST AIR PURIFIERS!

Posted by Erica Wallace on Oct 27th 2024

I was quite pleased to receive my Shark Clean Sense Air Purifier Max with Odor Neutralizer Technology. I am using this one in my kitchen because we have allergy issues and that was the only room left that needed it. We have Shark purifiers already in our bedrooms, office and TV room and really like how they work. Upon opening the outer shipping carton you'll find the box containing the unit. It's not super heavy and is round in shape. Before using you must remove the plastic from the included filter and then replace inside by opening the bottom. There is also the Odor Neutralizer that came in a small cardboard box which you place on top of the unit in its designated area. The Shark states it delivers fast, powerful and quiet purification for up to 1200 sq. ft. The HEPA filter captures 99.98% of airborne particles and the odor neutralizer guards agains odors by releasing a fresh scent. I am normally highly allergic to perfumes and scents but found this smell did not bother me at all which was a nice surprise. There are some settings available on it to control how much scent is released as well. When placing in your room be sure there is at least 3 inches clearance from walls and objects for good air flow. Then you are ready to plug it in and get started. On top of the unit there are 4 air quality views to press and also a TIME TO CLEAN which is the estimated hours and minutes until the air is clean in your room. There is no remote control with this unit which was a bit of a surprise as all my other Shark purifiers have one. However since it's in the kitchen it won't be much of a hassle for me. I simply set mine on AUTO and let it decide how to do its thing. You can set the fan speed at what you desire if you don't wish to use the AUTO mode. The airflow comes out of the top and I did find the Shark to be very quiet, especially on the Auto/Eco mode. Often it isn't running at all and only kicks on when needed saving energy and your filter life. On the front there is a digital readout stating the percentage of air quality in the room. If the circle is blue your air quality is considered GOOD at 85-100%. If it's yellow then the air is considered FAIR at 70-84% and if RED it's poor quality at 0-69%. You can also dim the lighted circle or turn off if it's in a room where light might be bothersome. Overall the 5 days I've been using this purifier I've been extremely happy with its effective performance. It cleans the air very well in my kitchen, especially after cooking. Also it's not complicated to use which is another great feature. I love Shark air purifiers and this is no exception. I can highly recommend and it's well worth the purchase!

    Quiet and and Efficient.

Posted by Jennifer Dunn on Oct 22nd 2024

There's not a lot to get excited about when talking about an air purifier but it is always nice to get an appliance that is needed (my allergies are super bad), and also works well. The Clean Sense Air Purifier MAX is a very good purifier for a good sized room, in our case our rather large owner's suite. Fortunately we live in a nice enough area that we can have the windows open for most of the summer because it rarely gets hot enough to need the AC but it is also nice enough to have flowering plants for a longer than normal season for everywhere else. In order to save my marriage I need something to help pull the dust and pollen out of the air to minimize my snoring as much as possible. We used to have a really good one but it got pretty loud and it burned through filters like nobody's business. We then got a large (and expensive) unit that seemed like it would almost be overkill but in fact it did worse than the smaller one it replaced. It has not been cutting it and it needed to be replaced. BTW, I think it was more intended for office/workplace environments where you run it hard and you also need to worry about VOCs and such. The Shark Clean Sense MAX was super easy to set up. Open up the bottom, take the nice and large filter out of its bag, replace it, close her up and finally plug in the odor neutralizer unit. Firing it up it started up in auto mode, ramped up to high fan speed because it said the air quality was only 83% and then kept going until it was satisfied that it was up to 100%. This was a good way to start things off but I'm going to keep it on a more constant, and lower level, fan speed so that it isn't quite so loud when we are trying to sleep. Level one is virtually silent, and in a dead quiet room, you can just barely hear it going. I'm going to pause here to point out the one quibble I have with the Clean Sense MAX. Why does this unit have the only area that doesn't expose the 360 degree filter to the air, on the front? Shouldn't this be on the back that will be most likely against the wall? As it is, it is really only pulling in air from the sides. This would be fine if these were the only openings because the filter maintenance for the MAX is to flip and rotate the filter to maximize exposure. A nice 90 degree turn and a flip would expose all new filter area, but now we have 270 degrees being used (though the back quarter would see less flow). That's just me thinking logically about the device. As for the air quality sensor suite on the MAX, it's a nice to know but not really needed. Also, the Odor Neutralizer had me worried a bit at first because it was so strong upon taking it out of the sealed pack, I figured that it was just going to make our room smell a little too scented, but once installed and dialed in to the right level, it does just add a nice undertone of scent (though I tend to find that air purifiers do a pretty good job with scents just through the regular carbon pre-filters). All in all, the Shark Clean Sense Air Purifier MAX is a nice, unobtrusive, and quiet air purifier. I'm pretty happy with it so far, and my wife did say that my snoring has tapered back off over the last week, I'm looking forward to seeing if it has as solid of an effect on the amount of dust I have to clean up, but that is going to take more time to test. If you are looking for a really good purifier, at a good price, you can't do much better than the Shark MAX.
