Shark - NeverChange Air Purifier, 5-Year Filter Life, 650-sq Ft - Black

I have 4 cats and couldn’t live without this air cleaner! You can’t tell that cats live in my small 2 bedroom house. Planning on purchasing another!

I have kept it running for these past days in its default Auto Mode (settings adjusted automatically by the device) with visible overall great results, the air has felt very clean and fresh throughout the whole house. The main inconvenience I’ve found so far is when I need to move the Air Purifier from one area to another (from the second to the first floor), given that there is no easy way to hold the device from the sides or top (I would have expected to find handles or similar on the sides and/or top), I must lift and hold it from the bottom. Its main filter is advertised to last for 5 years, so I assume that is where it got the NeverChange label. Also, there are side dust filters which can be cleaned easily; so, it seems like a low maintenance air purifier. I’d been debating on whether to give this device a 5 or 4 for some time already; definitely, I think this device deserves at least a 4. - Pros: works fast, quiet, auto/manual modes, easy to clean outer dust filters, long lasting HEPA filter, adjustable odor neutralizer intensity. - Cons: no handle(s). >> Setup Follow the guidelines in the Quick Start Guide to help with setting up the Shark HP152 Air Purifier, the one thing to be careful of is to remove the plastic cover from the main filter (well there is a yellow warning label telling the need to do so). The Quick Start Guide also has a QR code for easy access to the documentation and instructional videos on your mobile device. I am mostly a PC guy, so a quick search for Shark HP152 produces all I need. >> Odor Neutralizer To be accurate, it is not that you’d get a “neutral” odor, but just whatever scent the Odor Neutralizer’s fragrance cartridge came with. The fragrance cartridge that came with this device has a citrus-like smell that I really dislike, it feels too intense and overwhelming. I was planning on getting lavender or roses scent-based cartridges, but my search online hasn’t produced any results to find replacements for it so far. I’d think something like lavender/roses scent would be great for bedroom areas, while citrus scent seems more targeted towards kitchen or living room areas. I wonder if the Citrus smell is the signature Shark’s smell, since I also have a Shark vacuum that has the same scent for its odor neutralizer. The good news is that you can adjust the Odor Neutralizer’s intensity. So, for my home office room, I can set it to the minimum, and well, even at the minimum I don’t keep it too close to me that the air vent hits my face with the intense odor (which happened a couple of times already). For more smelly areas, like the kitchen (especially when some of those cooking accidents occur), you can even set it to maximum intensity for quick foul-smell riddance. >> Functioning modes So far, Auto Mode has been working fine and I haven’t had yet the need to manually set any setting in my everyday use. Well, I’ve purposedly tried the manual settings as part of my need-to-know about the Air Purifier features, but in regular everyday life, Auto Mode seems to suffice. It adjusts to the situation at hand, if the air purity and smell is great (the device shows 100%) the fan would stop and reactivate whenever changes to the air quality and smell were detected. Nevertheless, you might feel like wanting to adjust different settings, such as timeout, fan intensity, among others, which you can do with ease. Note that it doesn’t have a control remote or App (no Wi-Fi), but I have not seen the need for those, so I am not including those “missing” features as flaws. Overall, the Shark HP152 Air Purifier is very quiet compared to other devices I have (well, those other devices are also a little bigger and older than this one). >> Portability The Shark HP152 Air Purifier is somewhat light but moving it around is not as easy as one would want, it lacks handle(s) or something to hold on to while carrying from one place to another. The side panels could be mistaken as potential areas to place your fingertips to lift the device, but then they’d become detached, and you’d find yourself with two panels on each hand (definitely, this is a design flaw). We usually move the Shark HP152 from one room to another as needed during the day, and at night, we’ve found that placing it on the second-floor aisle outside the master bedroom, or on the first floor in the section connecting the living room and kitchen, helps in getting the clean and pure air we want.

The most straightforward and best air purifier I’ve owned. Highly recommended! Just don’t forget to remove the filter from the plastic. lol

I was checking different air purifiers before getting this one but after much though I went for it. I’d say it’s good value for money since you don’t have to change filter for a long time which can be so costly. Overall function is great, works well for our apartment and the odor neutralizer feature is perfect if you are cooking

The Shark NeverChange is a great air purifier for those looking to added a little more to a healthier lifestyle without the hassle of having to change air filters every 3 to 6 months. With its minimalistic yet sleek style the small stature insures that this purifier will not stand out like a sore thumb. Set up of the unit is quick and very easy, quite honestly all that is required is simple removal of packaging. The unit comes with a spherical HEPA filter which acts as the main filtration, along with two collectors along the sides of the unit where air is drawn in. The collectors act as pre-filters which help gather bigger particles such as pet hair and dust. These pre-filters can be removed and washed which will help limit how fast the main filter gets plugged up. The purifier also comes with a added scent cartridge which can be added to give the room a nice smelling aroma. The scent pouch is adjustable insuring that you don't overwhelm a room with too much of a good thing. The front facing LCD screen will light up with three different colors depending on how bad the air quality is. Depending on your settings the forward facing LCD screen will also display either air quality in percentage form, i.e. 20%,100% so on, or it will display your PM (particulate matter) which is basically how much airborne particles are floating around in your given space. One thing to note is while this unit does filter particulates it does not filter or track gasses such as Radon, methane or other types of gasses that may be a concern. There are other VERY expensive units that will detect and filter out gasses but keep in mind this unit will not do that. This unit does allow you to set up child locks and does offer sleep timers as well. The auto function will also detect air quality and adjust your fan speed as necessary. The fan motor is very quite and even at the highest setting is still not loud enough to drown out my TV. Now as far as well it works, well lets just say it works very well. I have a daughter who has a pet cat that basically will not leave her room. Her room does not smell the best to say the least, due to the litter box and pet dander. After setting this up in her room the purifier turned RED right away and measured a air quality of 50% with a PM 1.0 measuring about 10. With the auto setting turned on the unit went right to work in full speed mode and after about 30 minutes air quality had jumped to 90% with no PM being measured even at the smallest amount. The air legitimately smelt cleaner and even almost left you with a crisp fresh sent as you breathed. I hate that i had to use my daughters room as a test subject but i love the fact that it actually did its job and it did it efficiently. Once air quality was brought up to 90% the auto feature then adjusted the fan speed down to the lowest setting as it no longer had to work as hard. As far as the claim of this being a 5 year filter, only time will tell. I do worry about how well the filter will last with people with pets, such as myself. But one thing i can attest to that brings me reassurance is that i own quite a bit of Shark products with all of them living up to their claims and being built to last. While the 5 year benchmark still remains yet to be tested, i can say confidently that this air purifier is a must have for pet owners and anyone looking to add a extra layer of protection against airborne particulates. A couple things to note at the time of writing this review. There is currently no available app to access any features and im not exactly sure if the filter is strong enough to filter airborne disease such as the common cold or covid. With that being said there definitely is a noticeable difference in air quality with this unit.

Shark NeverChange Air Purifier Review I work in a place in Colorado that has high pollution in Denver, so I needed and/or wanted an air purifier to ensure that the air I’m breathing while working in the office was as pure as it can be! What made this a no-brainer for me was the fact it had a ‘Never Change Air Filter’ which turned out to be clever marketing! More on that later, but still, it’s leagues better than some other options out there that I’ve experienced from a certain bladeless fan company! What really surprised me was the Odor Neutralizer! I was not expecting this and to be honest, it’s genius! I don’t know why other companies aren’t doing this! It’s seriously one of a kind and so smart! What the Odor Neutralizer does is inject fresh scents into the room after the purified air is released into your space! I’d much rather pay for different scents on a regular basis than an air filter! It’s pretty smart for Shark to make this their recurring charge rather than an air filter! It’s a tangible benefit that makes you feel like you’re getting something for your money. The other benefit is you can have this Odor Neutralizer set to max which you can be too much depending on the size of your space, or you can set it to subtle which is what I ended up doing in my office! I also really liked the fact it states the air quality on the front display, 100% means you’re good and anything under 85% is yellow, and so on. In my office I wasn’t able to get it to go down below 100% during my testing, so it turns out my building's facilities do a really good job with filtration of the air. So I brought it home and I was SHOCKED lol. Perhaps it’s just because it’s winter and my windows are closed, but every room had a result under 100% when I first put the Shark in the room. I ultimately landed on my daughter's room which went from 85% to 100% in the matter of minutes with the door open! It fluctuates from time to time going from 100% anywhere down the upper 80s. But it’s nice knowing that her room is getting purified, and it smells nice too. I ultimately ended up buying another one for my other kiddos room because I loved it so much! The filtration seems to work really well and according to Shark, the “NeverChange” part of it is actually more like, change it in 5 years or so, give or take. It’s really easy to do, you just unlatch the bottom and throw in the new filter. There’s two handles on the side, which are NOT to carry the thing around, but a debris filter. Those are washable and can be cleaned pretty quickly. Long story short, highly recommended!

The touch interface has a setting for the timer where you can set it between 1 to 10 hours to automatically turn off. It has 4 fan speed settings, 2 is the sweet spot for fan noise and seeds 3 to 4 are a tad on the louder side. The Auto button is the best setting to choose because it will increase the fan speed as the clean air percentage decreases. It comes with a fragrance emitter where you control how much is sent out into the room. I personally found the fragrance to be tad overpowering but I can see it being useful if you have an open floor plan kitchen to living room and after cooking turning it on to release a pleasant smell. There is also a brightness button where you can dim the LED lights on it or completely turn them off, which is nice if you have this in the bedroom. It also comes with a lock button so kids or pets don't accidentally press it and change settings. The air purification capability of the Shark NeverChange is commendable. It efficiently captures and reduces airborne particles, allergens, and odors, leaving the air feeling noticeably cleaner and fresher. The True HEPA filter is a key component in this process, providing a high level of filtration. Unit seems to be working just fine. Can feel the difference in air quality in bedroom. Turns on more when odors are detected, best of all its whisper quite.
