    I Like It

Posted by Kevin Fischer on Dec 6th 2024

Here's a revised version for you: I like the vacuum because it's versatile, working well on both hard floors and carpet. It's easy to use, but beware of bubble gum wrappers—they can get stuck at the neck of the floor head, so make sure to pick them up first.

    Awesome Powerful Cordless Vacuum

Posted by Monica Ochoa on Nov 30th 2024

Being a family that owns and has owned many vacuums, we were hesitant to try the Shark Cordless PowerDetect with Power Suction. Let's start with the assembly. The vacuum was packaged well and safely. The trouble began with assembly. I admit I was not sure of which part went where. The included instruction manual was really lacking. It was very vague and the pictures were not very clear. I wish Shark took the time to make a clear, full color set of instructions. I winded up going to the Shark website and looked at the pictures there to figure out how to assemble this thing. After visiting the website and seeing pictures, I was able to put it all together. It was not exactly sure how the vacuum was to be placed in the holder, but eventually I figured it out. I let it charge for several hours and then it was time to vacuum. This is where the vacuum shines! I was literally blown away by the suction power of this vacuum. This thing cranked and picked up so much dirt and hair. I had used a different cordless stick vacuum over the area first. When I used the Shark, it looked like I never vacuumed there! Within minutes the vacuum was filling up with dirt! Lots of it! After vacuuming, all you have to do is set it back in the base and press a button. And boom! The dirt is automatically emptied from the vacuum and dumped in the holding compartment for later removal. The suction is good enough that this thing literally pulls you along. You can tell it senses the different surfaces of the floor and adjusts accordingly. This is great for people who have areas with carpet, hard wood floors, and area rugs. It keeps adjusting to each different surface. The only thing to note that may be a negative for some is the real estate this thing takes up. It requires a lot of room for the base and the vacuum. I wish there was a better attachment system that held all the attachments and got them off the floor. To me, the ease of use and suction power makes me oversee the assembly and size of the unit. I can definitely see this as a replacement for a corded vacuum for most people as it works that well. I love the build quality and all the components are well made and designed. Besides some minor quips, this Shark PowerDetect vacuum is a winner. I can say I highly recommend this vacuum for almost anymore. It will take a bite out of your dirt! Get it!

Great Vacuum for Multi-floors and Multiple Rooms

Posted by Terry Rodriguez on Nov 27th 2024

I have owned a few Shark cordless vacuums and have been very pleased with them. After learning Shark was releasing a self-emptying PowerDetect vacuum, I had to try it. Just like my other Shark vacuums, this one came with a removable battery in case I want to purchase a replacement or spare. Setup was a breeze and after a quick charge, I was ready to clean. Setup/first impressions Since I did not read the manual, understanding the vacuum took a little time. I mostly used the self-detect option and discovered the purple light means it was detecting more dirt in the area. Once the lights on the display/sweeper head turned white, you could be sure the area is clean. I also discovered that the suction power would intensify on the side of the vacuum when near a wall to ensure no dirt was left behind. Other features I noticed, using self-detect option, was the brusher rolls slowed when on hardwood to prevent flinging dirt. When I moved back to the carpet, the roller brush automatically sped back up. Most stick vacuums can fit under furniture, but this vacuum took it to the next level. Since the vacuum head had a low profile and the shaft could bend with a push of a button, this vacuum was able to reach spots no other vacuum could. The only complaint I had was that I had to use the self-emptying feature frequently since the canister was small. Battery life The battery life is amazing. I cleaned the dinning room, living room and basement and still had a lot left (unsure of the percentage). Pros Cleaning indicator light (purple/white) Cleans all angles Self-emptying Able to fit under furniture Long battery life Auto-detect carpet/hard floor No hair around roller Cons Smaller than normal canister This is an awesome cordless vacuum. I highly recommend it and give it a 5-star rating.

The PowerDetect System is a Game Changer

Posted by Benjamin Conner MD on Nov 23rd 2024

The Shark Power Detect Clean and Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum and Auto Empty Station is a powerful, portable vacuum with a good battery life and a great brush head. My flooring is a mix of tile and carpet, and I got around forty-five minutes of use on a single charge. The head unit does an excellent job keeping the carpet looking great. I experienced no hair tangles on the brush head. The vacuum itself is a bit heavier than I expected, the base unit takes up a decent amount of floor space, and there is no bag for the auto empty station to simplify and minimize mess when emptying the auto empty station. Still, I think this is a good vacuum and empty station combo. For my full thoughts, read on. Setup: Out of the box, some assembly is required for both the vacuum and the base station. You also get two attachments that you can easily store on the auto empty station. Shark also includes an extra foam filter and a deodorizer tablet for the auto empty station. Experience: Once assembled, the first thing I noticed was how bulky and heavy the vacuum controls are. I really thought they would be a bit smaller and lighter. This is a nitpick, but it did catch me off guard. Occasionally, I could get the vacuum to stand up, but you will need to lean the vacuum when not in use. This is a great vacuum. I never saw seventy-minute run times, but the auto detect would often increase power on the carpeted sections of my house and that pulled the battery faster than if someone was using the vacuum on tile or wood flooring. The sensors on the head unit worked well. The PowerDetect system can detect if you are near an edge and adjust suction appropriately. It can also detect flooring type and levels of dirt to adjust suction power. Areas with heavier dirt would be indicated by purple lights on the head unit. While I do not often vacuum in the dark, I really liked how bright the unit was while vacuuming in darkened closets. The roller did a wonderful job fluffing up the carpeted areas. Everything felt quite clean. After going over the room with the vacuum. I tested another vacuum in a room and then went back over that same space with the Shark Power Detect and the Power Detect still picked up a lot of debris the other stick vacuum left behind. The flexible wand was great at allowing me to get the vacuum underneath furniture. The auto empty station has a large tank, but there is no place for a bag. On the one hand, bags are an extra expense and hassle. On the other hand, bags help minimize the amount of dust and debris kicked up when emptying. Every filter became caked in dust after just a few days of use. While the auto-empty station does an excellent job emptying out the cannister on the vacuum, it was not perfect. Once or twice, I had to take the head unit apart to get stubborn hair and dust out of the cannister. I was surprised at how much space the auto empty station took up on the floor. You will need floor space of eighteen by twenty inches. You could fit a standard upright vacuum in less space albeit without the portability. Conclusion: This is a good cordless vacuum. The Power Detect system works well. I love the head unit with its detection features and exceptional brush roll. Battery life is good. I feel like the vacuum itself is a bit heavier than I expected and the unit will require more cleaning and maintenance than I would like. Still, nitpicks aside, I can easily recommend the vacuum and auto empty station. 4.5/5

Best cordless vacuum on the market

Posted by Steven Smith on Nov 21st 2024

This vacuum is a beast. I have the 1st one from 8 years ago and its still working. I use it for my basement now. But this new pro version works great. The battery last a while for me. I have 1700 sqf of carpet and hasn’t went dead yet. It picks everything up. I use it on the auto setting. And the auto empty if a fantastic feature. This thing is hassle free. It is a little bit pricey but if you want a good vac you have to pay for it. Blows dyson away. I also have a corded shark for upstairs which is also a beast. But its pretty heavy. If you can afford this vacuume then you wont regret it.

    Shark PowerDetect Vac

Posted by Karen Sanchez on Nov 20th 2024

I have had several Shark vacs as well as other vacs from the other major players. The latest from Shark specializes in the ability to detect dirt or ‘not clean”, dynamically. Call me skeptical but I really wanted to add a stick vac to my cleaning repertoire. I have always been jealous of my son and a few others who had these high-end competitors, mostly due to their flexibility and maneuverability of them. I liked how they get under furniture while also easily getting into and around areas that were more difficult with a corded vac. Enter the new Shark Stick Vac. Wow, this thing is impressive! Not only is it light and maneuverable but the dynamic capability to detect dirtier areas took a bit of getting used to but once you do, you can see that this vacuum can be detected when an area still has more to do. You start out and it will up the rpms of the motor for more suction as it “detects” dirt and dust. The lights on the head start out with a purplish glow while it is seeing more dirt/dust and as you vacuum over that area, the lights will turn white to indicate that it is clean now. It also does the same thing at the top of the handle. It is intuitive but also showed me how my rugs at the doors essentially were dirtier than I thought. I would have to go over those areas more times with it revving up until it turned white and the motor would go back to a normal sound. I will say that this can be a loud vacuum. Its noise is variable based on the amount of dirt/suction/speed of the motor as it is cleaning. That is really the only thing that I noted that that some people may see as a negative but compared to any other of the vacuums we have used, the difference is negligible. I think the only reason you notice is because it varies. If you are just doing hardwood floors each week for example, you most likely will hardly even notice it and it’s as quiet as any other vacuum we have tried. One of the most amazing features of this vacuum is that it can finally recognize corners and edges. I know, some of you are saying, what? What do you mean. Ok….so how many times are you vacuuming and you know that most normal floor junk will move and gravitate to the edges of the baseboards in rooms or most especially in corners. Well! They have the vacuum for you ! I have to admit that I was blown away when I moved the Shark Stick next to a baseboard that not only did the light on the side that was aligned to the baseboard light up ( and do the purple/white light) but it also greatly increased the suction on that side/corner of the vac! To ensure that everything on the edge and corner was caught! GENIOUS! I cannot tell you how many times when I was vacuuming with another vac that I was SO frustrated with it’s ability to get stuff on the edges of the baseboards. This vacuum solves that! Lastly, this has an automatic empty feature where you don’t have to touch it. You dock it after you finish, push the button and it sucks all the stuff down into a bag in the base, amazing! So far, I LOVE this Shark Stick Vac! It is my go to for quick and easy clean up. It says 70 min, I didn’t take it till it died but I got about 50 min with one section/bar left. I will try to double ck to make sure I get the full 70 min but I am loving this….i was able to get under a few things that have been neglected for months.

Lots to Love with This One

Posted by Ryan Rodgers on Oct 29th 2024

The Shark - PowerDetect™ Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum & Auto Empty system is a dream come true for those of us that have multiple pets, in my case 3 dogs, that shed like crazy. For years, I have been looking at all types and kinds of vacuum reviews by people with pets and what their recommendations are. Oftentimes, they identify something, but many vacuum their floors numerous times each and every day. So, what does that tell you is the most important thing-it has to be simple, effective, and an easy process for the vacuum user. The system that I saw most highly rated was this one and I had decided to wait for the upcoming seasonal sales to see if Shark would be discounting it, all these goodies do come at a cost. It was fate that shortly after I had made this decision, this item came up for request in the Tech Insiders Network, but all the units had been taken by the time that I saw it. However, it was fate that made me go back onto the website and see that someone must have canceled their request, so I was able to get this, I am so grateful for that. Just like anyone else, I want a tidy home, especially since I have put a lot of time, money, and energy into its decoration and furnishing. Last year we took all our carpet out and replaced it with hardwood floors. Two of the three dogs that I mentioned in the first paragraph are my husband's dogs-a straight hair Border Collie and a Belgian Malinois. During the day they are kept in a kitchen/ sunroom area. My goodness they not only shed terribly on the hardwood floors, but in their beds, on furniture, even if they are not on the furniture-it just flies everywhere. I am so glad that I get to own this machine to make my life easier. Why do I love this machine? One, with all the technology it is very easy to assemble-no problems. Two, I love that it is a self-cleaning machine. All my other vacuums have plastic collection bins that require the user to either push a button or a lever to open and then, over a trash can dispose of the inside dirt, yucky. In a couple of cases there is some sort of filter that is in the bin, and it falls out into the trash, to which I need to then fish it out of the trash or get my hands dirty extracting some of the contents that do not automatically fall out of the bin, yucky again. In any case all the dust is going into the air and with self-cleaning it is self-contained. Three, tis battery charges on the base, the base also has two bump ups that you can attach 2 of the 3 accessories, and there is another free-standing plate with a bump up that you can put the 3rd accessory on. Third, the length from motor to floor cleaner is jointed and allow the user to bend the bar and be able to easily in a low profile vacuum under a table, a chair, etc. Fourth, the floor cleaner has a no hair tangle technology and it picks up dirt as it is coming and going, making for a more efficient way to pick up dirt. There is also a great side detect and pick up when vacuuming up against your floor base boards, the base of your kitchen cabinetry, or furniture. Also, there is a lever on the motor that allows the 3 different power levels- power-detect, full, or eco. Power detect will figure out how much dirt is on the floor and the floor type to determine how much oompf is needed to pick it up. That power requirement will also make determine the motor loudness-less or more. I am very happy that I got this vacuum for my floor, upholstery, stair, up and down cleaning.

Powerful lightweight vacuum with extra features!

Posted by Steven Grant on Oct 24th 2024

This vacuum has a lot of cool features that I like. First, I like the central bin idea (the “auto-empty” dock), second, I like the flexible arm, third I like the adjustable power settings, fourth I like that it is lightweight, and fifth I like that it has lights on the vacuum head to illuminate the area being cleaned. The auto-empty dock is not necessarily game changing, but I like it a lot. When you are finished vacuuming, you just set the stem on the dock and then it sucks in the debris and does a little air blast or something to clean out the dirt collector on the vacuum. It’s pretty loud, but there is a “night mode” setting that will turn off the auto-empty when docked. That has already come in handy when needing to run the vacuum for something early in the morning and I don’t want to wake the dead. Second, they added a neat feature called “flex-wand” that really IS game changing. Basically, the wand has a hinge in the middle so you can bend it in half to get under low furniture and cabinets without banging up the wand on your nice furniture. It works great and is a one-click button to have it fold. Third, using the finger trigger under the handle, you can switch from reg, to eco to high power modes. Sometimes you need the extra boost (like when vacuuming dog hair from the car) but sometimes you need longer run times, so you’d keep it in reg or eco mode for most things. Fourth, it’s much more lightweight than my other stick vacuum AND it is either on or off – I don’t have to hold down the trigger the entire time I’m vacuuming. It’s a little thing but I like it better than a hold down trigger. Fifth, the lights on the large vacuum head are nice and bright and illuminate the area being vacuumed. You don’t always see the stray hair and dust bunnies unless there’s a light shining on it at a low angle so it’s helpful. It comes with a odor neutralizer cartridge, but I keep it set very low as I don’t like scents. It also includes an extra filter. I had to go online to figure out where this goes, but it is used in the main vacuum part. There is one already there that you need to periodically clean with a plain water rinse, nice to have a backup. Also, there are 2 tools and what I assume is a tool storage device. The crevice tool doubles as a dusting tool, which has been great for vacuuming baseboards. There is also a “pet brush” that looks like it would be best on fabric or upholstery. There is one place on the base unit to hold one accessory, and there is a weird stand I think to mount somewhere on the base unit to hold the second accessory, but I looked online for instructions on where this thing goes, and we are just guessing because it was not clear where to install it. Overall, a really good, lightweight vacuum that does its job well and has some useful extra features not found in any other vacuums I’ve owned.
