3 Whirlpool ain't what it used to be
Posted by Mark Ferguson on Oct 27th 2024
Whirlpool Review for similar model WRT108FZDB01 from September 2015 We bought this lemon on 9/2015. It is a nice looking fridge but not a ton of room in either compartment. We have the Model Number: WRT108FZDB01. We purchased the Extended Manufactured 3 year Warranty and sure enough, as soon as it expired in September 2019, the fridge stopped working and got really warm. We had the part replaced for around $250. Seven months later it started to constantly freeze everything inside the fridge. Everything was ruined, eggs, vegetables etc turned to ice. When it was done freezing everything, it started to just be too warm and then too cold. Now less than eight months after the most recent repair, the temperature lights in the front just go off completely. Now the fridge is off and you have to keep checkin it. I can push the buttons and it will go on for about ten minutes, but not cool properly and then eventually will shut off altogether. I am really disappointed with this purchase. We paid around $750 and got three years use out of it. Plus the Extended Warranty, $80.00, plus the first repair of $250. No we are looking at busting out another $250 for another repair because we are out of the service contract. We should have just spent $1200 for a top end fridge because the components in this are of inferior quality. By comparison, my mom's old Whirlpool fridge lasted over thirty years and was still running when we replaced it for a "modern" model. This was it's replacement and it lasted three only years. We are not rich people and can't afford to buy a new refrigerator every five years. I would suggest spending more money on another model. I have seen other similar experiences by other customers.

1 lemon
Posted by Wesley Hale on Oct 19th 2024
refrigerator freezes everything on bottom shelf. purchased the protection plan when i bought the refrigerator. Geek squad was here four times to repair. Ordered wrong parts at first, then made several attempts to repair, unsuccessfully. After one month of dealing with a broken refrigerator that the geek squad could not repair, they finally agreed that was a lemon and would exchange for a new unit. Had a very difficult time with the entire process. These appliances are made like crap these day with all these digital parts that break within a few years, The 20 year old refrigerators are built to last longer. Very disappointed in this Whirlpool product.

5 Works Great

The fridge is quite. You can see whats in the drawers without pulling them open. Being able to move the door shelves around is handy. Over all I'm pleased.

5 Wonderful frig
Posted by Aaron Woods on Sep 27th 2024
Love how easy surface cleans. It runs so quiet had to check that it really was working. Cooled down quickly. Love the door storage that can be arranged the way you want to store things and same for the deli drawer. It slides side to side for convenient storage of larger items on the shelves should it be needed. Like how the shelves are clear can look through whole frig and see what is in drawers at bottom without having to open them. Freezer keeps things appropriately frozen and main food storage temp is correct. It is energy star so hoping it will be efficient with the electric bill in mind. I wanted the magnetic doors and it closes and stays closed even with the door loaded to the max. It is on wheels and can be moved to clean floor and roll back in with ease. It is everything I was wanting in my frig at a reasonable price and it fit the space I had in my kitchen. Delivery people were friendly and considerate of my home. I believe there was only one review on this frig that I read before my purchase and it had everything I wanted so I bought it and glad I did.

1 Temperature is not able to be regulated.
Posted by Michael Mcgrath on Sep 22nd 2024
Threw away salad that was frozen and dumped ice cream that was mushy, among many other food items. Bought temp gauges, to try to reset w/ their data as a guide. The temperatures fluctuate throughout the day in both places. Technician came, took apart and said it was all fine. He could not check temp sensors cause they are in a sealed unit. Thank goodness we have old 20 yr old fridge as backup., an old Whirlpool, actually. They don't make them like they used to. This replaced a 4 year old Fridgedaire. We have 1 teen and not alot of opening and shutting of the item. Stay away!!

5 Satisfied
Posted by Holly Arnold on Sep 17th 2024
Just purchased this refrigerator last month. It is roomy and works well holding temp in both the freezer and refrigerator. It looks good in the space and fit well. I am not sure how to rate the noise. It makes noise but I guess it's a bit less than my last fridge so it's OK. I replaced a side by side so I do miss all the shelving in that freezer. Things kind of slide all over in the large freezer compartment unless you have bins inside. I didn't opt for the ice maker because it would have taken up a lot of space. You will do a lot of bending down for the fridge, even for items in the door, so be aware. Next time I might go for a bottom freezer but those cost more and are less efficient.

4 Whirlpool WRT549SZDW

Freezer is large in comparison to the refrigerator, larger than the refrigerator we replaced. Excellent unit for our space (height and width). Glass shelves are nice. Sliding meat storage good, but glass shelves are full width, so there isn't a large advantage here.
