Model number : ARC-1230WNH The Whynter ARC-1230WNH Inverter Dual Hose Portable Air Conditioner and Heater has the highest cooling and heating BTU (14,000 ASHRAE / 12,000 SACC) in the market. The cooling power you need to cool, dehumidify or circulate the air in up to 600 sq. ft of space. Smart functionalities include the NetHome Plus app to control your portable air conditioner through Wi-Fi from virtually anywhere. Intelligent features such as the 24-hour Timer, Sleep Mode, Auto restart, Self-Diagnosis, Express Run Settings, Schedules, and Filter Check Reminder Light. As pioneers in the air comfort industry, we are introducing the next-generation Inverter Technology currently only being used in high-efficiency ductless mini-split air conditioners to our NEX line of portable air conditioners. The variable-speed system allows the compressor to optimize efficiency and power consumption together while maintaining a specified output. The advantages of inverter technology are estimated 40% – 50% in energy savings, 2 times quicker to achieve desired temperature, quieter operation, minimized temperature fluctuations, no voltage peaks from the compressor. The innovative two-hose-in-one design and the sealed bottom structure ensure no heat leakage. This cooling setup extracts and exhausts air from the outside, so the indoor space reaches an independent and balanced cool air circulation. As a result, the entire room can be cooled down quickly and effectively. The noise level is as low as 47dB(A) in low fan speed, almost as quite as a library. You can control your portable air conditioner anywhere with the NetHome Plus app for Android and iOS and make your home comfortable even before you arrive. Also, you can use Amazon Alexa or Google Home voice assistant to operate the air conditioner. Great supplemental heating/cooling for living area
Posted by John Moses on Dec 9th 2024
This unit replaces an older portable air conditioner / heater for a converted attic living area over the garage and works well so far, though we've not experienced significant below-freezing weather. (We didn't want to install an expensive split-system, or a hotel-style through-the-wall unit.) I have this semi-permanently installed and vented (for both in and out air flows) through the side wall of the house. The heating and air conditioning capacity is excellent. I would recommend using the setting which measures the temperature at the remote, as it works much better than the internal sensor. The unit generates a significant amount of condensate, so a drain line is needed. I have it running into a small condensate pump, where it is then pumped outside. (There is a small internal pump for the heater condensate.) For occasional use, it may be sufficient to drain the condensate into a bucket.

Buyer Beware of Warranty Scam and Poor Product
Posted by Nicholas Dunn on Dec 5th 2024
We bought this system in July 2023 for cooling and heating purposes. Now, in the middle of our first winter, the heating does not work. The manufacturer says they provide a 1 year warranty and we purchased the 2 year Geek Squad protection. However, both have failed us at this point and we are currently left with an expensive useless item. Even though we purchased Geek Squad protection, they will not do anything if the manufacturer has a warranty and the manufacturer says that in order for them to look at the item to potentially do any repairs, we must ship the item to California (at our own cost) and if the product is damaged at all in the shipping process, that is on the consumer and then they will do nothing. The product is nearly 2ft by 2 ft by 3ft and is very heavy so the cost alone of shipping the item makes it completely useless to ship to even try to take advantage of the warranty and again, the $70 Geek Squad protection can't do anything to assist either. Whynter has structured their warranty in a way that they are able to claim a year of protection while really providing worthless protection and Best Buy won't help either. Buyer beware of purchasing this product, any products from Whynter and beware of Geek Squad protection on these products. This was a waste of over $700.

Quiet and efficient
Posted by Matthew Armstrong on Nov 28th 2024
This cools efficiently and is a very quiet unit. However: 1. I had to cut a portion of the window mount for the vent with a saw. My window is your typical window size, so it's really dumb that I had to do that for it to fit. 2. Auto mode isn't very useful because the range is way too big. It will reach above 64 before the AC turns on when you've set it to 60. 3. The app is inconsistent. Sometimes it will only let me set the fan speed by high/medium/low, other times it will let me set a percentage. Also IFTTT percentage would be nice.

Whynter is coming…
Posted by Jamie Adams on Nov 21st 2024
My wife and I purchased this unit to replace an aging window ac. The unit we received was a bit loud and was having some issues with heating. I reached out to Whynter customer service and after some troubleshooting, they sent out a new unit. They allowed me ample time to get the new unit setup and even gave me a few days to make sure that the new unit was working properly before scheduling the pickup of the old unit. I’m not going to lie, I was worried that I would have to fight to get the issue resolved, but Rowena and the team at Whynter took the time to make sure everything was perfect and they even reached back out to me a month later to make sure that everything was still good. Customer service doesn’t get much better than that! If you’re on the fence about this unit, but with confidence. Whynter has a great support team and stands by their product.

Air coming from unit smells like Vinegar and Vomit
Posted by Jamie Vega on Nov 19th 2024
The air that the unit was blowing smelled terrible right from the beginning. It smelled like vinegar mixed with vomit (not like a "new product smell", but more of a "there has been mold and/or bacteria breeding in this thing for a long, long time. The unit looks nice, and even though the user manual was apparently drawn by a committee of 5th graders, my installation was no problem. Sadly, it's unusable due to the horrific odor emanating from it.

A mini-split alternative? Well, maybe.
Posted by William Yang on Oct 28th 2024
The unit seems to be working okay. I purchased it to cool a 2 car Florida garage so I won’t really know how good this unit cools until we get well into the &0 degree days. A few notes…the “app” setup was seamless which is good. The remote that comes with the unit works just okay. And onto the window trim…I had to do some custom cuts and add a piece of wood trim underneath the trim that came with the kit as I have shutter trim to deal with. Not too big a deal but I wish the manufacturers were able to take into consideration “non-standard” installations. Lastly, it’s seems to be evaporating the condensation well enough, but time will tell. I’ll post an update in July on that if needed.

Cooling and heating performance

Cooling works excellent.however, the heating mode barely works due to ambient temp concessions that dictate it's operations

Good unit.
Posted by Morgan Hardin on Oct 13th 2024
Blows cold air so far so good. Only used it 4 days so far . Wish the instructions to put it together were more visible in showing step by step. The unit rolled pretty good on my carpet. I would have put it up in window after if it had clearer insulation instructions.
