High RPM lightweight, permanent magnet motor cuts through food waste. The SMART Choice disposal is lightweight and easy to handle during installation. It's economical too. The corded design makes it safer to use in many ways. Proper grounding protects the user from possible shocks. It also makes unjamming or removing a utensil that falls into the chamber easier. By first unplugging the unit from the AC receptacle, there is no way for the motor to start causing the operator injury. I do like the design and ease of installation. The unit attaches quickly to the sink with all the necessary hardware. I supplied the plumber's putty on the top side of the sink between the sink and mounting flange. Three (3) Phillips head screws hold the mounting bracket in place. The special mounting ring snaps into the groove of the flange. No other tools really needed. If you are adding a dishwasher drain to the disposal, don't forget to punch in the plastic stop. It can safely be ground if you can't retrieve it. Everything goes together smoothly. The disposal comes with a four (4) year warranty, but save your receipt as proof of purchase. My unit was delivered in an outer box, packaged securely. Yet upon removal from the instore packaging, I noticed the plastic housing was misaligned and cracked. It appears the unit was screwed down during assembly with the housing slightly off center. Careful removal of the three(3) outer housing shell screws allowed me to seat the cover into its proper position. One the screws were tightened; the crack seems to be unimportant. Just speaks to quality control of the manufacturer.
