Tineco Floor Washer Switch Pet Cordless 7 Series UNBOXING First, the Tineco FW Switch comes in a fairly large box, and is a bit weighty. Tineco was thoughtful enough to incorporate a carrying handle into the shipping box so that it can be carried. Now, when I say “weighty,” specs say it weighs around 22 pounds, but including the box and all the contents, I would guess it must weigh close to thirty pounds… light enough to carry around easily. After getting it inside, I began to unpack the box. As I opened the top my first thought was, “Oh man, what have I gotten myself into?!” There is a lot to this system! There are two different layers of items contained within the box. Tineco is serious about making sure everything needed is included. This also includes a full-sized bottle of cleaning solution. Most of the competition either include a small sample size, or none at all. This was a very welcome sight. Before removing everything from the trays, I decided to read over the instruction manual. As I did so, it became quite obvious that Tineco went above and beyond in the R&D aspect of this product. There is a LOT of information to take in. Thankfully the instructions are laid out in a very concise and logical way. Everything is covered step by step. After going through the manual, I was convinced that it was not as complicated as I first thought. In fact, when it was all said and done, product assembly was quite easy, simple and intuitive. Where there were any questions, the diagrams in the manual are quite good, and made for easy reference. After getting everything assembled, it was necessary to charge the unit. It was starting to get late, so I decided to let it charge overnight and test it out the next day. In other words, I can’t say how long it took to fully charge. The next day I wanted to try out the vacuum first. But before I do that, let me back up a bit to the storage of the Tineco. The Tineco Floor Washer is a unit that can stand up by itself. That’s the way Tineco designed it. I can understand that, because after all, if it couldn’t, the threat of spillage would be greatly increased. However, the vacuum cannot stand by itself. I’m not sure why so many manufacturers design their stick vacs like this, but they do. Anytime I had to stop vacuuming, I had to lean the vacuum against something to keep it from falling over. But because so many companies do this, I am guessing there must be some sort of engineering aspect involved…I just don’t know. But in storage, the vacuum has a slot that slides into a pocket on the storage fixture to keep it standing up. With that said, let me get back to the vacuuming. There are two modes with which you can use the Tineco, Eco mode, and Max Power mode. I started out with the Eco mode and was quite happy with how well it maneuvered across the carpet AND the bare floor. On the bare floor, I was super impressed by how well it removed dust and pet hair, not to mention other debris. As I vacuumed along the walls, speakers, etc, it managed to pick up almost everything along the edges. But now, this is when I maneuvered the vacuum with the side of the unit facing the edges. Front on, it didn’t pick up as well as it did from the side. This was not really an issue, other than when I was trying to vacuum some tight spots where I couldn’t get the vacuum along side the edges, like with the TV stand, etc. But because I almost always use the long wand attachment to go along the baseboards, I figured I was not out any extra labor at all, seeing as I was going to do that anyway. On the carpet, the Tineco did exceptionally well using only on Eco mode. So well in fact that I was a bit embarrassed by how much dirt and pet hair it was pulling up. After the first empty, I was at roughly 85% in battery life. I then put it in Max mode. In all honesty, I was not expecting so much suction! It became quite difficult to push the vacuum across the carpet. Because it is relatively light in weight, I circumvented this issue by simply lifting the vacuum up and forward and then vacuuming on the reverse pull. In Max mode, battery life began to decrease quickly. Starting off with around 85%, in a matter of a few minutes I was already down to less than 70%. I decided this wasn’t even an issue considering just how much suction the vacuum produced, especially so seeing that it is a cordless machine. I switched it back to Eco mode and finished vacuuming the floors and the carpet. By the time I finished it was time to recharge the unit. Because it is a Switch model, the battery can be switched from vacuum to floor washer quite easily. However, for recharging, the battery must be on the floor washer and placed in the included charging cradle. The stand for the vacuum attaches easily to the unit so that both can be stored together. The next day I decided to test out the floor washer. Surprisingly there is absolutely nothing complicated about the FW! Simply push a “button” to remove the water container from the unit, take it to the sink and fill it up. Tineco came up with an ingenious design here. Since the water tank is attached vertically, they designed the tank so that it is filled with the tank in the prone position. There is a little snap-in-place plug to close the tank when its full. Here is where I have to say Tineco deserves its props! As I mentioned earlier, Tineco includes of full-sized bottle of cleaning solution. The instructions state only one capful is needed when AND IF the floor is extra dirty. In other words, you can actually clean the floors without using the cleaning solution. But hey, with pets, it’s probably a good idea to use the solution. But even so, there is enough solution to last for dozens of cleanings! I wasn’t going to go easy this time. I decided to vacuum the Family Room where the humans and pets spend most of their time. All I did was move everything out of the way, didn’t vacuum, and went for it. The FW is actually self-propelled, so using it is almost effortless. As I went over the floor, the FW took up most of the stains on the first pass. There were a few places where some drops of some unknown liquid put up a fight, but after a few quick swipes, up they came. What I was most surprised by was just how quickly the floors dried. In a matter of seconds (20-30) the floor had already dried! This was such a welcome discovery because now there would no longer be the waiting 20-30 minutes for the floor to be dry enough to start walking on it again. I was sure that I was going to have to refill the tank several times in order to finish the floor. Boy was I wrong. By the time I finished I had just a tad under half a tank left. I didn’t have to refill even once! I said earlier that after vacuuming, I was a bit embarrassed by how much debris there was. That embarrassment was nothing compared to when I went to clean the floor washer used water tank! I was truly speechless. I thought I lived in a fairly clean house, lol. As I disassembled the tank for cleaning, I was super impressed by how much hair and other debris was in the solid waste compartment. Now, Tineco says that it isn’t necessary to use the solid waste catcher if you don’t want to. For me, it was nice being able to swipe it out straight into the trash bin. I don’t want to mislead you here, it did not capture ALL of the hair and other solid waste, but most of it. Rather than pour the waste water down the sink, I decided a nice trip down the toilet would be in order. I didn’t want to have to someday dig all that out of the sink pipes. Cleaning the FW and the vacuum was very simple and quite easy. For the FW, Tineco includes a very practical and effective brush that makes cleaning a breeze for those hard to reach places. A good general cleaning is all that is needed, and was accomplished in very little time. I don’t want to leave out the additional cleaning tools. The upholstery brush alone is worth the price of the entire unit! It is the very first upholstery tool I have ever used that is actually EASY to use. It isn’t awkward or bulky, has a revolving brush and amazing suction. I had zero issues while cleaning the sofa and other furniture. The trigger on the batter unit that turns whatever part you are currently using is another ingenious aspect of the Tineco. It is easy to access and easy to use. This is what helps to make the upholstery tool so easy to use! CONCLUSION I am extremely happy and satisfied with the Tineco 7-Series Floor Washer Switch Pet Cordless Mop & Vacuum Cleaner. It is easy to assemble, and easy to use. There is a lot of information to process the more you use the machine, and for the most part I am glad for that. The more information given, the longer the machine will work to its full potential if we heed it. The storage/recharging station is something that requires some placement thought. Like probably most of us, I am not really into having vacuums and stuff out in the open for all to see. I chose an unused bedroom. As I said, I don’t much understand why the vacuum is designed to be dependent upon leaning against something if you need to empty the container while using. I appreciate the way it is designed to stand unaided in the recharging station. I love the idea of being able to switch the battery from one to the other so easily. The design and build of the vacuum and floor washer are impeccable, and will last for many years. I wish it could be just a bit better at the suction at the front of the unit, but the side suction somewhat makes up for that. I am jazzed at the super quick drying time. I’ve figured out because it is so easy, I just might use the FW for vacuuming as well, seeing as most vacuums create a bit of airflow which causes dust and hair to become airborne, and with the floor being wet, it will anchor that debris long enough for the FW to pick it up on subsequent passes. The upholstery tool is wonderful! Being a self-propelled machine is a HUGE PLUS! And the very generous supply of
